My husband and I have stayed at the Ships Inn Resort twice now. Though it is an older establishment, the rooms we've stayed in were pretty clean. We stayed in the Windsurfer this time. The room was clean, king size bed w/ small fridge and microwave. The bathroom looks like it'd been partially renovate recently. With all the news of bed bug issues at hotels lately, I did check the mattress and box spring. They looked brand new. No bugs in site.
The sun deck in nice, we sat out there both nites enjoying the evening.
We used the larger of the 2 pools on this trip. It was clean and seemed to be well cared for. Had what looked like newer furniture around the pool. A couple tables w/ umbrellas.
The people at the front desk were pleasant and there were several guys running around doing work. So, maybe they're updating some of the rooms.
The last time we stayed at Ships Inn (Sept 2010) we stayed in the Sloop A, 3rd floor, left room (if you're facing the room, can't remember the room #). It was also very clean w/ a completely remodeled bathroom w/ jacuzzi tub. King bed. Had a small sitting area w/ kitchenette and a good size semi private deck (shared w/ the only other room on the 3rd floor of this building.
Over all not a bad hotel.
