We live nearby and frequented Bonta under different management, and particularly on Thursday evenings when there was a lively bar crowd due to the "half priced martinis". The management has changed and so has the Thursday night specials, now limited to 3 drinks, although no one told us this until we received our bill. Of course, all of us had ordered the full priced drinks.
The food is very good, and the bar menu has a great variety. You can also order off any menu in either the bar or dining room, which is convenient, and many of the entrees offer a smaller portion, also great if you want to taste a variety of items.
The restaurant is pricey, especially for this area, and we often find our bar bill to be 2 to 3X as much as our food, and we're not heavy drinkers, so instead of this being our regular Thursday evening stop, we reserve it for more special occasions.

We are flexatarians and eat seafood, but the meal here was nothing to write home or here about and it was very expensive. Considering there is no view, this place should really try to promote their food and service.

Great food, atmosphere and service, albeit a little pricey. Definitely somewhere to go for a special occasion.

Nice Northern Italian villa style and decor. We regularly eat at Bonta's but are mainly afficianados of the excellent bar menu specialties which if rating the bar alone I'd rate as excellent in content and value. The salmon over spinach is very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious with good portions. The salads are excellent and ample enough to be shared. The pizza for one is tasty as are several other bar entrees. You may also order off the main menu as well. We've had the spaghetti entre choice in the bar several times, although its price keeps rising.

I agree that the main room dining is on the expensive side and occasionally does not quite live up to its price although there are no serious flaws. Wine tends to be pricey at Bonta as well. Bonta is THE meeting place for the 'beautiful people' of the Seacoast area. :)

Upon recommendations from numerous friends, I recently surprised my wife with a trip to Bonta for our anniversary. We now plan on returning here each year for this special dinner.

The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambience that suggests an Italian mountain villa, and the feeling was enhanced by the fire in the large fireplace centrally located within the moderately sized dining room.
Our server was extremely polite and knowledeable about the menu, and helped us order a bottle of wine. For an appetizer we ordered the Beef Carpaccio (on our friend's recommendations) and were not disappointed. Although my wife generally orders meat well done, we were fighting over the last few pieces of raw beef, shaved asiago, and capers, so that's saying something! We were equally pleased with our salad choices, the Roasted Hazlenut and Gouda for her, and the Caprese for myself. We mopped up every last bit of our entrees, a nice rare Ribeye for myself and the chicken confit raviolis for my wife--tasty, homemade raviolis filled with a chicken mixture served in a small pool of reduction, and had a side of the must-have Tuscan fries.
By this point we were completely happy with our restaurant choice when our server brought us an elaborate plate of yummy profiteroles for dessert saying "Hello, these are compliments of the house on your anniversary." -- Yeah, you had me at hello...

Bonta is not the sort of place for an everyday night out due to the somewhat pricey menu, but the food, atmosphere, and service make it the perfect spot for those special occasions when you want to spend a little extra. We'll see you next year Bonta...
