Owner description: Come visit historic Towle Farm, home of Smuttynose Brewing Company, one of New England's oldest and most beloved craft breweries. Take a free tour of our brewery, enjoy a guided tasting (for a small fee) and shop for favorite and hard-to-find Smuttynose and Smuttlabs beers, as well as other goodies in our retail store. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious meal at Hayseed, the Smuttynose public house located on the same grounds, featuring over two dozen beers, a farm-to-table menu and a seasonal beer garden and fire pit. And if you have time, play a round of disc golf while exploring our 17-acre site. The course is free and loaner discs are available in our retail shop.

We have been on tons of brewpub tours but this was the real deal! Nothing staged here. It is a true working brewery right down to a sticky floor. The tour guide was great and even on a Saturday the guys were working. After they give great samples and can just hang out. It's free but they ask for a donation to two charities of your choice. Lots of beer for sale after and no pressure to buy a thing! GREAT AFTERNOON!!

This is one of the more casual brewery tours I've been on, but it also was one of the most fun. It's free, but you make a small donation when you start the tour. Totally worth it, and it goes to charity. You then get to drink all different types of beers and socialize with the crew and other tour members. After that the tour begins and lasts about 20-25 minutes. The brewery is quite tiny, but they are expanding into newer and bigger facilities soon. The staff here is super friendly and informative and you can tell everyone in the warehouse loves their job. For beer enthusiasts in Portsmouth, this tour is a no-brainer.

This place is great, we've been a few times and the people are great. It's all really informal and seems like a bunch of friends getting together to have a few drinks. The tour is free but they ask that you make a donation to your choice of 2 charities. The tour was more then worth the 10.00 we donated and we had a lot of samples before and after the tour. Great time.
