“The Best at the Beach”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

The staff at the Ashworth are all very professional.
Although it was a rainy time when we went, we had a great time due to the service we were given.
We had a great dinner and a bottle of wine in their restaurant "Breakers"
The Server we had "Brian" was wonderful and gave great recommendations.
He was training a new staff member that evening and was terrific in doing so-
The only suggestions overall for the rooms would be;
to pay a bit more attention to the outside decks-
There were some cobwebs on the rails and maybe do a little powerwashing and or deep cleaning before the season just to address the exterior. Also some bottled water in the room would have been a nice touch and/or candy on nightstand, Our mattress was very soft -maybe check out the dates to replace since lots of guest volume during the seasons. Our blowdryer inroom was not working but it was ok because it was not a good hair day anyhow...lol

Room Tip: I always like top floor- I think most of the rooms have view of the ocean so you can't go wrong...

Thank you so much for providing us with detailed and honest feedback ! We are delighted that you truly enjoyed our hotel and your dining experience. We will be sure to share your comments with our staff . Please accept our apologies for the broken blowdryer ( replaced ) and the dusty decks. I am happy to tell you that all of our decks are being replaced with beautiful tempered glass front balconey's and are absolutely beautiful. We hope that you can make a return visit soon and see them personally !

Our stay at this hotel was for only one night, so it may not be as helpful as some would like it to be. Our trip planner (my husband) booked it when the 10 day forecast was showing there would be nothing but rain for the 3 days surrounding our stay, so he chose this hotel because it's the only one on the strip with a pool (last resort option for a kid who wanted to go to the ocean for splash time that might be rained out). We were a few days outside of "on-season", but that didn't mean it was any less busy on the boardwalk. Our stay was not rained out; 85 degree weather, actually so that saved us from too much pool-time. Our room was fine, but for me the mattress was too firm. My husband thought it was a great mattress and said he slept just fine. We didn't encounter very many staff members other than the desk and the valets, but they were very pleasant. There was actually a wedding reception going on that night and to be perfectly honest I was concerned that no one was going to get any sleep. We didn't hear a thing in the room, just the muffled sounds of some music (the Electric Slide, from what I could garner in the bathroom) but when I was trying to settle in for the night, I was undisturbed. The "balcony" was only enough for 2 chairs with no leg room, overlooking the sun deck next to the pool, but that wasn't why we were there, so anyone looking to go to the shore only to stay in their hotel room and sit on a balcony should not stay here. As a matter of fact they should not take a trip to the shore in the first place. My only major complaint is that they had Stargazer Lilies in their lobby and the aroma was very overpowering; instant headache, but I had ibuprofen and an inhaler so my allergies were kept at bay. All in all, not a bad place to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. Compared to a lot of the other places we saw on our walks around the boardwalk, the Ashworth was CLEARLY the best choice; well maintained on the outside as well as the inside. Had check-out day breakfast at The Breakers in the hotel and was not disappointed. Very pleasant, the food was tasty and Doreen was very friendly and helpful. The pictures on this site need to be updated, as our room did not look like that at all.

Room Tip: I'm giving the rooms an excellent rating because it had what I needed: beds, bathroom, tv and wi...

Dear Carrie F,

We truly appreciate your taking the time to share your positive experience while staying at our hotel. It is comments such as yours that we love to share with our staff to reinforce our standards of excellence.
You will be happy to know that the lilly's were removed. Although they were a nice thought from one of our guests, not eveyone enjoys the scent.

We hope to see you again in the near future,

We stayed here recently (May 29-31st) for a girl's weekend (my sister, our elderly mom and me) and we had a great time! The location of this hotel was perfect! We had a corner King suite with wonderful views of the ocean. Our room did have a balcony which was great for stepping outside to get some nice sea air! The balconies are being updated, unfortunately ours had the older version. You had to stand up to see the view. The new balconies will have plexiglass (?) so you can sit and enjoy the views, that will be much nicer! Our room was clean and both the king bed and the sofa pull out were comfortable! The bathroom was very big with double sinks and a large walk in shower!

We loved that there were restaurants in the hotel so we never had to put mom into a car to drive her someplace when going out to eat. A BIG plus for us!! We had breakfast each morning at the Wharfside Coffee shop. The food and service were amazing! My favorite was the Lobster Benedict. Very filling and full of lobster meat. We also enjoyed the bar at Breakers for Happy Hour a couple of nights. The lobster bisque was so good we had it both nights! Very filling! Again, service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very inviting. Although we never used the pool we did visit the outdoor bar for some great drinks and again views of the ocean! The staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Mom is still talking about our trip and what a nice time she had!

The one thing that was missing was an outdoor hot tub! We definitely would stay here again!!

Stayed here recently with my family and toy dog. Pros: Impeccable View, Close Proximity to the Beach, Clean Room, Comfortable Bed, Friendly Staff. Cons: Paper thin walls creating way too much internal noise, Mandatory Valet Parking during our particular stay, Limited Room availability to those with a pet, and Only One, Much Too Small, Outdated Elevator to access any rooms Not on the main floor. We would defintely stay there again due to it's location being so close to the beach and Pet Friendly policy.

Room Tip: We had a North Side Ocean View and Loved it. We kept the glass slider open so we could see the ocean...

Our first experience at the The Ashworth was lovely. Comfy clean room. A litle on the small side. but it had a very pleasant view of the beautiful beach. The Breakers Bar had great food and drinks. Also a friendly atmosphere. The beakfast place at the hotel was also very good. Probably the best pancake I have ever had. We will definetly be back again!

We lived in Portsmouth years ago at the AF base. We used to come to Hampton Beach many weekends with our young sons. We love the area and passed by the Ashworth Hotel as we parked at the beach so long ago. Now with thoughts to visit the area again a friend recommended we stay here. We're really happy we chose to come to the Ashworth for my birthday/Memorial weekend. Staff was friendly, kind, helpful. We had a King room with a beach view, it was a little small, but clean, appointed well, good furnishings and a lovely little balcony that overlooked the Sand Bar and out to the ocean. We used the heated pool, which was nice.( no hot tub though). We ate in the main restaurant one night and loved the meal and service we got- highly recommend dining here. We even saw fireworks from the beach in the lounge as we sipped something to drink. We had breakfast at the Wharfside and that was good too. It great having these amenities on the same property. We chose not to use the valet parking because we liked getting our own car as we wanted so we could travel up the coast to Rye, Portsmouth, the Kittery outlet shops and York beaches. I'm sure you will be happy with the accommodations and service at the Ashworth. Prices do go up after Memorial weekend and back down in the fall.... Even off season this is a comfortable, beautiful setting for a long weekend getaway or longer stay.

Room Tip: Ask for best King available- that would be with an ocean view, 2nd or 3rd floor.

We had a third floor ocean front room. My favorite part was our balcony view, We were out there more than actually in the room! Classy place~ Impeccibly clean, friendly and accomodating staff. We had breakfast there and that was fabulous too, our server Eva was a gem!

Room Tip: Loved the ocean front room, the higher up the better, stunning view of the moonrise over the ocean...
