“Great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2010

Boardwalk Cafe & Pub has good food for any restaurant, and given they're on Hampton Beach with a lot of mediocre, over-priced restaurants, that means a good restaurant for being anywhere is excellent for being here! We saw good reviews on Trip Advisor and our hotel is right behind it so we gave it a shot and were not disappointed!
Service wasn't excellent, we were there for at least 5-10 minutes before our waitress came over to take our drink order. She then took a while to bring the drinks and take the food order. Then not long had passed at all, maybe 10 minutes tops and our food was on the table, we were very impressed, especially since we thought based on the waitress we'd probably be waiting for a while for the food.
We saw several people outside leave a lot of fries on their plates when they were done, so we both opted to sub out our fries. We were each satisfied with the mashed potatoes and rice. The mashed were red potatoes and the rice had red peppers and other spices that made it quite tasty.
My mother ordered the Clam Dinner and was very impressed at how massive the clams were, and she ended up bringing home leftovers.
My fried Haddock dinner was just as described, lightly battered and it was excellent, it wasn't greasy at all. It was excellent, especially for fried fish which could easily be mediocre and greasy. I preferred a little squeeze of lemon and some pepper for extra flavor.
Both dinners came with cole slaw which was just ok, and very generous portions of tartar sauce, which neither of us used anywhere near half of it but were happy to be offered so much.
We were too full for any dessert, but may go back again before we leave the beach. They gave a few onion rings with the dinners that were excellent (they're homemade) and we may just have to go back to try the coconut shrimp appetizer too. It's definitely great to know there's a good quality food option that has reasonable prices for the quality of the food and it's very convenient. I definitely recommend!

Ordered Fish and Chips. Came with cole slaw and fries. Good size helping, and not greasy. Daughters ordered hot dog, and chicken fingers, same not greasy. You can sit outside on deck or inside. Evening singer with guitar until late. Beach across the street. Nice bar area. Friendly staff!

“oceanfront dining on top level”

We ate here over labor day weekend. We sat upstairs and had direct view of ocean and the strip. Great people watching! Food was average, the service was good. Two bands playing, one on each floor.

“Food was okay, service extremely slow”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2008

VIsited Hampton beach this past week on 7/30 with my family for dinner, 5PM-ish...
Specials listed at front door had starting prices at $11, so we were okay with the pricing, especially for the view of the beach right across the road.
Once we were seated we realized the entrees started at $13.00, finally found an affordable appetizer at $7.99 for some 'Boardwalk fries" which were beer battered fries with cheddar, bacon bits, and sour cream. Took about 15 minutes for the waitress to come around to ask what we would have to drink, she apologized, saying there was a mixup on the staff...

The fries very good, came out to us in appropriate time. The entree we ordered was the Fried fish & chips, as we wanted to try some seafood, but didn't want to pay a fortune.
It arrived in a reasonable amount of time, the onion rings which came with entree and the haddock were not completely covered in batter, and seemed to be not quite fully fried... same went for the haddock, as the batter didn't stay on the fish as well as it should.
Once completing the meal, we waited... I would say 15-20 minutes to find and flag down our waitress to get the check.
