“Nice Stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2008

We had a nice stay at the Town & Country this summer. We purchased the Story Land and Santa's Village packages, and upgraded to a suite. The suite was defintely worth it for the extra room, and the prices are reasonable.

The rooms were pretty clean, with the exception of crumbs under the sheet of the pull out bed in the kids room. (The sheet itself was clean, but it came off a little when I pulled out the bed, and there were cookie crumbs underneath.) I think what happens is people sit on the couch eating, and then crumbs fall in the couch. The staff needs to be aware of this and the pull out couches need to be cleaned every time, whether used for sleeping or not by the previous guest.

The air conditioning in the room needed a little work, and the fan in the bathroom was broken. Our room had a rather dark decor, but it was in fairly good condition other than the items mentioned.

The food at the resaurant was very good, and the staff friendly and accomodating. We almost missed the breaksfast cutoff one morning, but everyone was still polite and friendly. The service was great at every meal, and the breakfast included in the packages was very good. They have a very good dinner menu as well, with a children's menu.

  • Liked — The resaurant was very good, and the suites provided extra room.
  • Disliked — dark decor in rooms, air conditioning etc needs updating

My wife and I took our family to the Town and Country Inn for a mid-week vacation in the mountain region of NH. We booked a mid-week package deal that included free passes to Storyland and Santa's Village for the whole family. The package also included free breakfast at the Inn's restaurant.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Town & Country Inn. We stayed in a Suite, which had a separate room (with a pullout sleeper couch and a color TV) that the kids slept in. The decor was a little dated and a bit dark in our suite, but the rooms were super clean and in excellent shape. Our rooms had color TV's with cable TV service from Time Warner.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed some sheets for the kid's bed and called down to the desk. The staff came by while we went out and delivered the sheets and got the extra bed ready for the evening (so we didn't have to do anything).

We had breakfast and one dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The food in the restaurant was not very fancy, but well prepared and tasty. The staff at the restaurant were very attentive and friendly. The menu prices were reasonable, and our breakfasts were free with our mid-week package. The dining room has a very nice view overlooking the golf course across the street.

The pool and arcade were a lot of fun for the kids.

The mid-week package was a good deal, especially with the family passes for 5 for the two amusement parks.

The only minor negative comment would be that there is a train line running near the Inn and we heard a train rumble by one evening. Otherwise, we had a really wonderful time at the Town & Country Inn.

Overall we were very happy with our stay at the Town and Country Inn and are planning to stay there again. We would recommend the suite over the regular rooms, especially if you have young children with you. We saw a regular room and it was nice and clean, but the suite only cost a little more per night (I think it was like $30 per night more with our midweek package) and it was definitely worth it having the second room.

  • Liked — Very helpful and friendly staff... very clean
  • Disliked — Decor was a bit dated and dark

My grandson and I spent one night at the Town and Country Motor Inn during our June vacation. The room was large and very clean. My grandson made use of the pool and also the exercise room. We were really impressed with both. The pool area was well maintained and included dressing rooms. The exercise room had a great selection of equipment and also had dressing rooms.
Yes, the decor was "outdated", but I never judge a room by the decor, but by size and cleanliness and it certainly does well in those areas. The price was right and the staff were polite and helpful. The location was good and our room was at the back of the property so it was very quiet.
If we are in this area again, we will make plans on staying at the Town & Country Motor Inn again!

  • Liked — Cleanliness, size of room, great staff, really nice pool area and exercise room
  • Disliked — that we only had time to stay one night

Our stay at the Town & Country Motor Inn was excellent. We brought our snowmobiles to the inn and signed up for the 2-night snowmobile package. The rooms were very clean. The trail was conveniently accessible to the hotel. The pool/hot-tub area was clean. The package included dinner and breakfast. The food was excellent. The package entitles you to the dinner offerings on their menu. That included prime rib and lobster. Breakfast was a full breakfast, not continental. When you consider the cost of eating out while away from home, it is an excellent value.

We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is dated. That's apparent. However, it was clean, the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. We will be going back.

  • Liked — Great package deal
  • Disliked — Hotel could be updated

The Town and Country Motor Inn is a wonderful motel, but perhaps a little outdated. But everything is in perfect condition, it's clean, nice staff and just a good quiet place to spend the night or stay a little longer. You will not be disappointed.

Only breakfast was disappointing. They were understaffed the day we were there. When we got our food, it was just small portions and we had to eat fast before it was entirely cold.

Perhaps dinner was better, we didn't have it there. But there's not much choice in town either but burger joints.

  • Liked — cleanliness
  • Disliked — breakfast

The staff here at the Town & Country appreciate your honest review. We would however like to point out that there are only 2 fast food restaurants in our area, the same 2 you'd find in almost any town. Gorham also has over a dozen other family owned restaurants to choose from ranging from Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and regular family dining.

I stayed at the Town and Country in July, 2007 with family members. First the positives: a great view of Mt. Washington and the surrounding areas; it was pet friendly, and the grounds around the place were extensive. Also, when I wanted a longer walk in the morning, you can drive into Gorham in about 2 minutes, and it's a nice village. The room was clean and large enough, but sort of an average motel room. But the price was pretty reaonable.
The negatives: we had one meal at the on=site restaurant where my wife ordered crab=stuffed seafood, and there was no question it was filled with low-grade canned tuna. The breakfasts were okay, though, and when my parents didn't want to drive into town for dinner the last night we were there, the meals were fine. The view of the Shelburne BIrches from the restaurant was nice; a relaxing atmosphere; waitresses wore uniforms; reminded us of a family restaurant in the 60's.
Two service problems: We had a clogged toilet, and just wanted a quick plunge; it took hours (and a major tongue=lashing of the on-duty manager) to get this accomplished. And, I wanted a quick mapquest to our next destination; the guy at the desk acted like I wanted him to print out the whole New York Times or something--"we don't do that here," he said with a look of disdain.

  • Liked — great location
  • Disliked — some of the people at the desk were not responsive to requests for service
