Recently, my husband David and I had the pleasure of staying at the Bernerhof for 3 nights. This was a surprise trip he planned for my 40th birthday. He was sold on the Bernerhof after speaking with Katey and Steve...and I can understand why! They helped him create the most wonderful birthday celebration ever. We stayed in the Josiah Bartlett Room which was beautiful and romantic. The setting is fantastic and the food is just as good! From the delicious pastries and coffee in the morning, to the gourmet breakfast and the fantastic pub fare, there was never a disappointment! A surprise piece of fresh Key Lime birthday pie was a treat left in the room by Steve (which quickly disappeared). The nature trail was the perfect starting point for our morning run...and their dog Holly was an excellent guide. The couple's massage at the on-site spa was the perfect way to end our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed a bonfire one night and just chatting in the bar with Katey and Steve another evening. They truly made us feel like family and we will definitely be back to visit the Bernerhof again! Thank you so much Katey and Steve...it was such an awesome experience. We will be back when we run out of Marinara Sauce!! Kendra & David

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautifully decorated, but the Josiah Bartlett was our favorite. Roomy with a j...

Dear David and Kendra; You both made our weekend! We had a blast watching you both enjoy some important time together minus the distractions of the outside world. When we chatted with you in the Black Bear Pub, we actually had as much fun as you both did comparing notes! The love of food from good pickles to quality pasta is something we are fond of as well, and we will see you soon on our Innkeeper in training weekend :)! Thank you very much for gracing us with your great company last weekend and rest assured you've made friends in the business for life...

Have a great summer until we see you gain, Katey and Steve

This was such a nice place, it was our first stay at a b&b and we couldn't have asked for a better experience from the innkeepers Steve and Katey and of course Molly. Breakfast was great, and we aren't big breakfast eaters. We also had dinner the first night and it was very good. If you want a very friendly, quiet, laid back place to stay you must try it!

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor #12 right next to the stairs and I have to say we weren't disturbed onc...

Dear Michelle and Thomas: We received your feedback and were smiling with pride on the results of your post. Thank you very much for choosing our Bed and Breakast/Inn for your quality time away and also those kind words. We will be here for your next anniversary and if we can cajole you away from Manchester this fall, even sooner! Thanks again for making our day based on your feedback....

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying that this wonderful B&B for two nights over the July 4th weekend. We arrived early on the 3rd and were met with a warm welcome from Innkeeper, Steve. Steve was friendly and offered us an upgrade to the Madison Boulder room, how could we resist?!? So while the room was being prepared Steve offered some dining tips for a quick lunch in Bartlett.

We returned about two hours later- were given a tour of the inn and shown to our room. The Madison Boulder is located on the third floor of the inn and offered roomy, comfortable accommodations. I particularly enjoyed the deep jacuzzi tub after a long day of hiking! We found the room to be nicely decorated, well appointed, clean and functional. We loved the closet space! The bed was queen sized and quite comfortable!

The breakfast service daily was fantastic. There were three daily hot entree selections, which I suspect you could ask to alter if need be, an oatmeal station, coffee, juices and fresh baked goodies. The fruit parfait was a nice way to start the morning. I had crab cake eggs Benedict which were out of this world. Hubby had traditional eggs Benedict and stated it was the best hollandaise he's ever had! The next day I had a spicy sausage omelet which was excellent and hubby had a sinfully delicious Texas French toast. Each of the savory dishes came with potatoes which had rosemary and maybe some other spice. Very good! This breakfast easily would fetch $10+ in any city near me, and is included in the price of the room.

There is a lovely nature trail on the property and Steve and Katey's adorable dog, Holly, will guide the way! Don't worry, holly doesn't roam free inside the inn, if you aren't a dog fan. If you love dogs like we do, make sure to say hi, she's a doll!

The inn is located in Glen between North Conway and Bartlett. The 302 is a wonderful drive (the Bartlett way) with many scenic spots along the way. Inn is two minutes from Attitash and about 20 from the Kanc, Mt. Washington auto road and Wildcat. Perfect location, especially if you take the Washington street diversion to avoid North Conway traffic.

Somehow, we missed Katey, but we did meet Steve who was a wonderful host. Felt like staying with an old friend.

I can't say enough about this fantastic inn. I searched high and low for the right accommodations in the White Mountains, and I am so glad this gem turned up in my search. We only have three regrets, 1)not staying longer; 2) not visiting the spa and 3) going into town to eat a sub par dinner when we could have eaten at the Black Bear Pub in the Inn - next time! We will absolutely return.

Dear Gina and Stephen: A Thousand Thank You's - your recap made our week! The round of detail you shared brings back smiles to us as we recalled seeing you both having a relaxing and special time together from the " Mother Of All Upgrades" to our discussing the CT/NYC hotel markets. Thank you includes our appreciation for spending Independence Day at our inn and finding some fun between the World Cup games to dining in The Black Bear Pub. Your feedback makes it all worth it!

We both agree to tackle the three regrets you have and make you a special dinner here, keep you in house with us longer and of course a couple's massage is in store. Stephen is always welcome to come into the kitchen and pick up our Hollandiase Sauce making any day fresh! Maybe it's best we don't share the recipe then we will be able to see you at our place that much more!

Have a great summer and thank you for becoming friends of ours....

I choose the Bernerhof as a resting place for a very long trip from Illinois to Maine through the towns of central Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. It is perfectly situated just after the White Monuntains heading East and a few minutes from North Conway. The place is beautiful (the house, the surroundings) and quiet. The owners very warm and welcoming. The room wide, clean and comfortable. The breakfast had always three or four choices, delicious all of them. Along the day you can take coffee and a tray with exquisite pastries were ever available. Definitely they take very seriously the concept of B&B and make you feel at home.

Dear Mr. Puyana: Thank you for the outstanding commendations. We were the ones who enjoyed having you under our roof while you had the quality time of spending with the family before summer camp! We also will never forget the World Cup Brazil vs. Colombia where you were such great sports! We do take Innkeeping and hosting great guests like yourselves seriously as you wrote: it's a privilege to greet so many varied folks to our spot and then get to know them. Have a super summer and here's to making sure your daughter keeps sending postcards from camp!

Thank you again - Katey and Steve

Just left from a great night away Bernerhof inn. Everything there exceeded my wife and my expectations. We chose the ultimate romance package to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, having roses, chocolates, champagne on ice in our room upon arrival. We also had excellent massages. Steve was very welcoming and went out of his way to make sure that we were taken care of during our stay. It is safe to say that we will be returning, hopefully before our second anniversary.

Dear Peter and Katelyn: We are thrilled that your 1st anniversary was spent with us. You two were so nice and we say immediately the special bond you have, both teachers, so that we were able to be your backdrop to a special time. Come back for your 2nd anniversary and many more even in between to unplug and have a ball!

Just sitting here at home in Sydney ,Australia daydreaming about our all to brief time at the Bernerhoff in New Hampshire. Planning a return visit early next year. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a wonderful break with unique, beautiful rooms,an inviting bar and restaurant, and magnificent breakfasts. We look forward to seeing Steve and Kate(the owners) again and of course to partaking afternoon tea on the verandah or watching the snow fall from the warmth of the lounge. Can't wait!!!

My husband and I had a fabulous couple of nights at the Bernerhof Inn recently. The room was fabulous, bed was comfortable - we stayed in the Glen Junction room. We loved sitting out on the porch and talking (and laughing a ton) with the other guests. The breakfasts were delicious, the Bears Inn Pub was fabulous. The owners, Steve and Katie, were the ultimate hosts and really fun people, full of great stories and awesome travel advice on the area. The owners dog, Holly, was the cherry on top! And I had one of the best pedicures ever in their spa. I honestly can't think of a bad thing to say. Just one little detail would have made it a bit better- I don't like to wash my hair everyday, so I would prefer to have a regular shower head over a rain shower head, but the jacuzzi tub made bathing bearable. ;-) We had such a great time, we are searching for excuses to go back. Don't hesitate on this one! The Best!
