“Great place to spend the day!”
Reviewed January 14, 2012

Ellacoya is a state park. It's very clean and offers a freshwater lake beach for swimming and sunning. They have clean bathroom facilities, a playground for kids, and grills and tables to bring and make your own lunches. This is a great day trip!

“Clean state park to swim.”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

Nice lake frontage and woods. Good beach. I don't like life guards but some people do.

“Scenic Drive is a most appropriate street name”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

This review is of the State Beach, not the campground. There is a $4 entrance fee but when leaving the park after 4pm, no fees were being collected.

The beach itself was small, perhaps 400-500 yards long, maybe 40 feet wide.
There were picnic tables, shady areas off the beach and a few on the beach, there was a volleyball area, water fountains, feet washing stations, a building with restrooms and a concession area. Water toys were available for sale.

The swimming area is roped off but a quite sufficient area. I did not go to the ropes end but even halfway out, the sandy bottom of the lake was very shallow, no more than 2 or 3 feet deep. Mostly gentle water but small waves were constant.

What makes this state beach special is the view of the lake and the White Mountains far, far off in the distance. The sand was very hot on the 90+ degree day but there was a breeze and the rolling waves created a soothing sound.

“Right on lake winnipesaukie, shallow beach for kids, launching kayaks”
Reviewed July 24, 2011

Camped here in an RV, hookups and cable worked fine. Sites were level gravel and grass. Gravel road access. The middle sites are convenient pull thrus. Bathroom was clean. Womens toilets were fine, shower was large. This is a good base to explore the Lake region, weirs beach amusements are right up the road. NASCAR Speedway is south about 15 minutes.
The kids enjoyed the little beach and we were able to pull the kayaks in right at the campsite. The water was shallow for quite a ways out. There is a state park day use swimming area roped off on one side of the Campground, with a little store.

Downside is no pets or tents allowed.
