The basin was gorgeous! The best part was it was free. Not that the other places we went were expensive but every one knows how a budget needs to expand sometimes.

The sights were amazing, the price was fairly expensive, and I was not met with friendly faces as I paid for admission. It is a
self guided hike that included a lot of impatient people trying to get to the top all at the same time so it was very hard to enjoy the sights around.you without being rushed, it is a beautiful natural wonder but with that experience I may not return.

The bike trail starts near Echo Lake and Cannon Mountain with signs leading all the way down to the Flume Gorge. The trail follows the highway and is mostly downhill. The scenery is beautiful and bike path is paved all the way down to the Flume Gorge parking lot. Went during Memorial Day weekend 2013 and was definitely worth the ride.

Franconia Notch is relatively small but what a gorgeous place! Some of the best hiking trails in New Hampshire can be found here. You can go on a short easy 15 minute hike such as Artist's Bluff, a longer but very scenic 50 minute hike such as Lonesome Lake or an all day strenuous and adventurous hike such as Mt. Lafayette. Their are two rock climbing areas, The Cannon Mountain cliff or Eagle Cliff across the road. You can even spend a day at the Echo lake and relax in the sun. This area has it all.

I am a local. I can't think of anywhere else I would prefer to live. The mountains are beautiful and the people are friendly.
