So if you go to the vantage point and try looking up, you will not see the old man. To resuscitate the monument, some vertical towers have been put on the ground with some height indications. You take a spot which indicated your height and look through the head of the tower towards the old man mountain. The tower head has a built in detail in its design that super imposes the missing facial attributes to the old man. Thus making it feel like old times. I was there for an hour but not really. I know, a lot of generous funding helped get the park up and about. It is a nice place to walk but if you are there to see the old man, probably it may not be worth your time.

A lovely drive, but sad tale of the loss of the Old Man. We took a short hike, which made this more fun.

Visited the old man many times growing up, but have not been there for many years, and was sad to hear back in 2003 that it collapsed. Stopped and visited the site while on vacation, and despite the collapse, there was still much to see concerning the history of the Old Man. They have a nice memorial park that allows you to see what the Old Man use to look like on the side of the Mountain.

The way to enjoy this "attraction" is to keep it in perspective... the true attraction is the area with it's scenic beauty and a number of natural attractions (the Flume Gorge, Basin, etc.) to enjoy. There are so many ways to witness the power (and in some cases mystery) of nature this can be treated as just another stop. If you didn't make the stop you arguably wouldn't miss much--and if you had a limited amount of time it might be better spent hiking a trail or visiting one of the other natural attractions.

It used to be better before it collapsed, but that's nature. People attempted to save it for countless years, but it was all in vain, unfortunately. Very jice aea though.
