Shaker Farm Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 4 Enfield B&B and Inns
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Very nice, a little over-decorated but comfortable (had they put more money into pillows and less into decor, I'd be happier). It's about 25 minutes from Dartmouth College, and very near the bike trail. It's on a reasonably quiet road, not far from Lake Mascoma, close to Mt Cardigan.

My 15-year-old son and I stayed with Cathy and Joe in their lovely Shaker Farm Bed and Breakfast during his winter break from boarding school. We both felt immediately at ease with our hosts and very much at home. As other guests have noted, the cookies were warm, the coffee was hot, the duvets divine, the decor tastefully New England, the ambience peaceful -- like a crackling fire on a snowy winter night. Our hosts were welcoming, interesting, and helpful: we enjoyed their recommendation of a great local restaurant for dinner (Three Tomatoes). My son stayed only one night before he had to return to school, so I was on my own the second night. I felt perfectly welcome and not the least bit awkward, even though I happened to be the only guest for breakfast. In fact, it was fun having Cathy and Joe to myself. :-) Do treat yourself to a visit to this lovely inn. You won't be disappointed.

I would describe the Shaker Farm as a “homey” B&B vs. a B&B run more like a business.

Staying there really felt like staying in someone’s home. The innkeeper (Cathy) was very friendly and welcoming. We walked right through her kitchen on the way to our room. We were given a key to the front door, which is kept locked. But, the rooms themselves do not have locks… not a problem for us, but it may be for some people…

The room was very clean and comfortable… There were stacks of magazines to read…

The room did not have its own thermostat and since we like to sleep in a cool room, we tried to turn on the ceiling fan, but we were not successful… it looked very new, so I am guessing that it was deliberately disabled… no worry… we just opened one of the windows to cool off the room…

There is a single sitting at breakfast… the guests are asked to choose the time either 8:00 or 8:30 and the majority rules… Everyone sits at one large table and breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, a baked sweet item and a hot entrée…

We stayed two nights and met different people at breakfast, which was nice… We would stay again…

We stayed at Shaker Farm B&B in July, 2012, and could not have been more pleased. Cathy and Joe were so friendly and down to earth, and their inn was charming and very comfortable. I will definitely recommend the inn to my friends.

Our one-night stay at this outstanding B&B was a restful, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. Our hosts were charming and friendly, and demonstrated their concern for the pleasure of their guests at every turn. Our room was large and classically decorated in the Shaker style, with pegs that were once used to store furniture surrounding the walls and doors. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast we were served was scrumptious, with a freshly baked blueberry muffin, orange juice, a large piece of outstanding German pancake, deliciously prepared peaches in their own juice, and crunchy bacon. Thanks for a totally enjoyable stay!

We had a great stay at this B&B. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. The owners were really hospitable and made us feel completely at home. We'd travelled quite a long way and to be greated by tea and homemade cookies was just amazing!
The breakfast was first class. I can't find anything bad to say about our stay here at all and would definitely recommend it to other people.

Stayed two nights on our honeymoon in may 2012. Cathy greeted us with choc chip cookies and a warm inviting personality! Our room was spacious and comfortable. The only thing was that we could not lock our room doors when we left for the day (we felt no reason to worry though).

Cathy's breakfasts were AMAZING! Eggs Benedict and German pancakes. The house is very "New England" (as I imagine that to be). We loved our stay and would definitely go back!
