My husband and i spent the last two weeks of our amazing trip around South Africa at this beautiful beach house and I must say what a fab time we had too. The location is between Cape Town and the wine lands and we spend many days exploring the city and visiting the wine farms. We also ventured further a field to a fantastic game reserve where I done a horse riding safari, this has always been on my bucket list and I wasn’t disappointed it was ace. Not all our time was spend sightseeing we also made great use of the comfort of the beach house, taking in lots of nice lone walks along the beach and calling in at the Drummond Arms for a quick drink before heading back to enjoy the amazing sunset from the terrace. This place is true heaven and we will be going back again.
We recently rented ‘Proteus’ for a fortnight with family and friends after being recommended to us for its beautiful location and luxurious accomodation. We drove along the amazing coastline and bays taking in the stunning sea and mountain views from Capetown into the picturesque settlement of Rooi-els. We weren’t disappointed when we arrived .... the accomodation has a rustic exterior and has a beautiful colonial feel throughout the interior. The beach house is absolutely immaculate with everything you could possibly need to enjoy the most relaxing of stays down to the very last detail. The exterior boasted a hot tub that we spent our evenings in drinking sundowners and watching the amazing sky which would light up like a fire ball as nights drew in. The house is situated right on the seafront and we loved going for strolls especially down to the local bar ‘Drummond Arms’ with its amazing staff who made us feel like family. May I add they did fantastic food too. Klein-Hangklip mountain dominates the village, and is home to Verreaux's eagles, baboons, antelope and even a leopard or two have been spotted apparently. There is a great information pack at the beach house showing local things to see and do. We enjoyed going for day trips to local Wine farms for wine tasting, so many to choose from and all so different. Cape Town was about a 45 minute trip again with so much to see and do. The only one disappointing thing was ‘we had to leave’ but have promised ourself a trip back in the very near future!
