The restaurant itself, with wood beam ceilings, old stone and woodwork, antique furniture, provided a unique atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had potato encrusted haddock and it was cooked to perfection. There are not a lot of options for upscale eating in Durham. I'm glad we found this place. And the prices are reasonable.

The ffrost tavern@ The Three Chimneys Inn in Durham NH built in 1638 and turned into an inn perhaps 10years ago . It has an upscale fancy dining room along with a colonial tavern . When we arrived at the tavern entrance , we were given a hearty welcome, they were happy to see us .we were seated in front of the tavern's fireplace the service was excellent , informative & quick .i had a petit filet w/diced mushroom aioli on a polenta crouton sides being whipped Parmesan potatoes & sautéed garlic infused spinach, the filet could cut with a fork, $24. My wife ordered the potato encrusted haddock which by itself is worth the visit .the ffrost sawyer tavern is now a place, I will never hesitate to stop for a meal .

I love this place it is so cozy and warm. They have a very thin staff. If there is a party or god forbid hotel week, they get behind the 8 ball. We saw 3 tables that waited more than 15 minutes just fr a drink. Others had piles if dirty dishes. Service people.
The golden rule... Take a drink order within 2 minutes and place that drink with in 5min.
This yields a happy customer, high margin, and a guaranteed bill. Step it up people. No excuse for ignoring customer because you are ashamed of your poor Managment.

A country Inn with a great pub and resturant. The rooms will make you want to come back. We have stayed when the power fails and it is a block away. All you could want for a weekend in a college town and a few minutes to historic Portsmouth. We dine in the resturant with guests and they rave about the expierence.
