“A day in the children's museum”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Museum is great for children below the age of eight. Above that, they would be bored to death! Very nice location near many restaurants and easy walking trips through downtown Dover. Plenty of seating area outside. Children can use almost anything inside the museum without fear of breaking anything. Outside is a huge bandshell used for free outdoor concerts and exhibits.

“Fun time for all”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Children's Museum of NH has some really cool, interactive exhibits and my niece has had a blast every time I have taken her there. Her favorite was the café where she could wait on tables and prepare and serve food. There is also a separate area for children under 3 which was very nice when she was younger. The building is an old mill building but it is bright and airy. It is very near a couple of parks where you can have picnic lunches or there are several family friendly restaurants within walking distance. There is also a great educational store across the street. Love it there!

“Dover's Best Attraction!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

There is nothing else like this on the seacoast of NH. No worry about having your child breaking anything or being quiet......this place was designed for kids of all ages. We have been going there since our son was 1 and now that he is coming up on 2 he still loves it as much as he did the first time. The staff is great and does a great job to "clean up" the mess with a smile on their face. The train table up stairs is a big hit for our little one right now and as long as other parents make sure that the big kids don't go up there it is great to watch the intense action at the train table. On the days they have special events it can get a bit mental but most of the time it is the place to be. If you are going to go more than 2 times in a year ask for a season pass as a christmas or birthday present.....truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

“Nice museum on a beautiful location”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

First off, note that this museum is the new location and name for what was formerly called the Children's Museum of Portsmouth and also note it's now in Dover (~15 - 20 mins north of Portsmouth). This really confused me at first as a guide I read had me looking for the CMoP.

We were only able to come at the tail end of a Sunday and spent 1.5 hours there, but could probably have spent another hour. There are some cute exhibits and fun things to do for our toddler, but not quite as much as the Children's Museum of Maine in Portland which we also visited on our trip. However, it also wasn't near as crowded as the CMoM which gave our little one plenty of space to run around which most certainly did. Note that the museum has parking which it shares with the swimming pool facility next door (i.e. don't follow your GPS or you will be directed on a one-way street with no way to access the museum). Also, the museum sits on a beautiful park which would be great for a picnic. Lastly, note that the museum does not allow you to wheel strollers around but they have a dedicated stroller parking space.

“Good if you are in k-4”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

This was fun for my little brother but to me it was ok. Most of it is for 3-6 year olds. The only thing for 7-13 year olds is mindball.
