I was in "need" of a great hamburger and The Dover Brick House was recommended by my friend. Possibly, because we were early diners-5:OOPM might have contributed to the mediocre food. Specifically, I ordered a medium-rare burger. It was large, I cut it in half and saw that it was definitely cooked to the medium (brown) stage. The server apologized and said that she put the order in wrong, she did offer to get another one for me, but I declined. When I went to eat the second half, there was a pink portion of beef the size of a nickel. After thinking about it, I believe that it was cooked from a frozen stage, so that parts of the burger were over cooked, and the nickel sized pink shape was just right. In addition. the fries were limp and soggy. Maybe the oil was not hot enough. My friend was happy with her well-done hamburger and didn't mind the fries. My husband's Ruben sandwich was very good, but the sweet potato chips were only passable. As I said earlier, maybe the 5:00 is to early to go here, as I think the cooking oil for the fries was not hot enough to crisp up the potatoes, nor was the meat ready. It does have a nice bar atmosphere and I think that later dining and the music venue might make this a better place for entertainment. Dover has many good restaurants, so I probably would not go back here.
