I'm happy to pay this much for an exceptional meal. The meal at the Granite Room is typical trendy fare I could get at 10 other restaurants. I was disappointed and paid way too much for run of the mill modern cuisine. The atmosphere however, is exceptional and I'd come back for drinks and a snack, not a whole meal.

This restaurant on the main floor of an Inn has very good food and an interesting if not too extensive wine list. All main dishes are available in half as well as full portions, which is marvellous for those who like to taste as many dishes as possible, or who simply like to eat well without overeating. The menu has both classics - steak, simply done fish - and more unusual dishes. Everything tasted very good and was well presented without being cutesy. The diners appeared to be a mix of hotel guests and locals, and the general feeling at dinner is very comfortable - neither sloppily causual nor stuffy-fancy.

Ate on a Monday nite; needed no reservation. The restaurant is not cheap, but its prices are in line with its food and service. We had a great waitress who was attentive but not bothersome. We spent hours over a leisurely meal and never felt rushed. No courses were delivered until we were both done with current course (a huge pet peeve: when servers just show up with plates while diners are still working on current courses). Not a lot of options for vegetarians - and it would be great if the restaurant could offer local meats or at least organic choices. All in all a really nice meal and experience.

Tucked away in what was a private Concord residence in the early 1800s, then a home for Civil War widows, and then a host of other communal homes, the Granite Restaurant is a modern bistro with fanatical attention to the quality of their wines and food. We brought our family to the restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving with my elderly mother, and everyone found a meal to enjoy. I was delighted by the wealth of flavors in their tuna tartare and special skate dish, while my vegetarian son enjoyed their crispy pumpkin, walnut and blue cheese ravioli. The chef found a way to make every dish special, and the presentations were first rate, even for those of us used to Boston-area cuisines.

We particularly appreciated the half portion sizes offered by the Granite Restaurant, because we were able to try several dishes and not leave stuffed. While we had some wine by the glass, the Granite's extensive wine list and pairings made us eager to come back and stay longer.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Granite Restaurant to anyone looking for a special and memorable meal. Just be aware that this is not a large property, so you'll need reservations if you wish to go on a busy weekend night. But if you do go, you'll be glad you did.

The menu is modest in its scope but interesting in its content. Every dish that we ordered was very good or excellent. The restaurant is towards the smart end of the scale and would be a great option for a special occasion. Given the quality the prices seemed reasonable.
