The other evening - we went to dinner at Angelina's - It hadn't been the first time we had been there - We had eaten there many years ago - and had enjoyed the food but we found the ambiance a little crowded and the room temperature almost uncomfortably warm. So we just never returned - That was a BIG MISTAKE!A
When friends recently told us that they had been to dinner at Angelina's we were reminded of how good the food had been and so we decided to try it once again -
And what a Wonderful dinner we had!
First of all, salad or soup was included in the price of most of the meals and this made for a wonderful value. But the salad - the salad itself was almost a religious experience - The menu mentions specific house salads but our server said he could make us side Caesars. They was cold, fresh - and the dressing was just marvelous. There were even anchovies. They were also huge! Served with fresh bread and a butter/olive tapenade (reminding us of the old Vercelli's restaurant that used to be located upstairs from the Angelina locale), it was almost too much for me to eat, but my husband practically inhaled his.
Then there were the main courses. I ordered the seafood agnolotti Little succulent half moons of home made pasta stuffed with shrimp, lobster and scallops and dressed in a crema rosa sauce. Just delicious! My husband ordered the veal parmigiana. It was the thinnest, lightest, tender and tastiest veal ever - Lightly dressed in sauce and some melted mozzerella, it was delicate and just great!
There was also a good selection of wines, most of which were moderately priced and very generously poured.
But the BEST part of the dinner was the service. Our wait person Bill (who has a dual gig - alternating days at both Angelina's and Granite...the two restaurants we frequent when in Concord) provided service that was stellar - attentive, courteous, prompt....just perfect!
Even the background music was perfect - classic jazz (NOT light jazz) played at just the right volume.
When we got the check - we were really stunned - the total for dinner with salad and wine was usually more like what we would pay for LUNCH anywhere else in the area -
Looks like Angelina's is Concord's best kept secret and We'll be Back!
