Have gone here many times for lunch, and the lunch specials were a great price and the food was very good. Decided to go for dinner on our way through Claremont, and it was a major let down. I can say the WORST Chinese food that we have ever had. They were very busy so I bet they were pushing food out the kitchen to keep up, and it really showed with our dinner. Crab Rangoons were not even close to being filled, it was a won ton wrapper with a teaspoon on mixture. The Veggie Lo Mien was a joke, it was spaghetti with a few slivers of shredded carrots. The Chicken and Mixed Veggies was CHUNKS of veggies, a few slivers of chicken, on a over saturated plate juice. The flavor of everything was just disgusting. The Lo Mien was bland to say the least, and the Chicken and veggies had the strangest flavor to it that I could not explain. Flat out worst Chinese food we have ever had. Lunch has been very good in past visit, so I'm not sure if there was a different person in the chicken, or they really just rushed food out the kitchen. If that was the case, it really showed. This was the last visit to the Crown Garden for dinner. The buffet at the Imperial was better than this (and the cost was about the same)

This place is regularly recommended by locals as a place to cure the hankering for Chinese food. If you have a Chinatown in your city, you will be disappointed. However if you live in a rural area, you will like this food. We ordered more than we could eat and left with lots of take home. Two beers, Combination C, Sesame Chicken, crab rangoons and spring rolls, including the tip was about $43. We had enough for four when there was only two of us.

When you usually get 6 crag rangoons, they serve 12. There was more crab than cream cheese in ours, which is unusual. The spring rolls were bland. The sesame chicken was plentiful and came with nicely steamed broccoli. The Combination C was chicken fingers, chicken teriyaki and something else. We found there was enough rice, but you may find that you want to order extra.

This place is across from the cinema. They do a big takeout business.
