My husband and I went to the Mad River Tavern on the advice of a local. The restaurant is very inviting and there was a musician playing while we were there. Our server, Jennifer, was great. We ordered fish and chips but the fish was disgustingly greasy and the fries were cold. Jennifer immediately offered to get us something else. We have never sent food back to the kitchen before but, in this case we knew we would never eat this meal so we exchanged the fish dinner for chicken ceasar salads. The salads were significantly better than the fish. More than anything we were thankful we had Jennifer as our server. She was prompt and attentive and, because of her alone, I would be willing to give the Tavern another try again in the future.
We go here fairly often for dinner. The food is always good, the menu is diverse, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The staff is friendly and sometimes the owner will come over and check to see how you are doing. We like to go to Mexican Night on Wednesdays, which they've been doing for a long time. Would definitely recommend. A nice place to bring visitors.
This restaurant is always one that we visit when we go to Waterville. Again, they met our expectations on the July 4th weekend. We were seated immediately and our waiter, Christoher, was exceptional. I had the prime rib which was cooked the way I wanted and tasted very good. My wife had salmon and was very pleased with her choice. We highly recommend this restaurant if your in the Waterville Valley area.
Full service restaurant, with both Tavern seating and dining room.
Great selection of craft beers and the food is excellent.Hot spot for locals and great conversations
