“A memorable stay”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We were there for a "milestone" birthday for a family member, and WOW, did the staff go out of their way to make it special. We have been to some great places and experienced exceptional service. The level of service and the genuine caring by the staff was remarkable, right up there with the best we've ever seen! Keep up the great work!

About 30 minutes after our arrival, there was a knock on our door. A hotel staff brought us a bottle of champagne along with a gorgeous cupcake on a marble platter which had inscribed on it: "Happy 30th Anniversary". I had mentioned that it was our anniversary when I made reservations, but this was a surprise. It made the event even more special! We had a wonderful time and will return.

To watch Mt. Washington change, hour by hour, and to enjoy the delicious food while doing so was wonderful. The trails on the grounds were just right for a long, inspiring walk. The staff was most cordial.

If you have a chance to head up to the whites mountains in October do it. The colors of the leaves alone are amazing.
We went up to Breton woods to leaf peep and thought we would look at the mt washington hotel to see what all the hype is about.
It is unreal beautiful. Outdoor fire pits, cool prohibition type bars, beautiful decor, shops, spas...amazing.

The dinner buffet was poorly replenished. We were pleasantly greeted by our server, but after that he was impossible to locate. Request for any item was often forgotten. Although at the time we went to the dinning room, it was not extremely busy, I found the service poor and the buffet practically barren. Their housekeeping also needs better supervision. Very friendly greeting upon arrival.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you as our guest and for taking the time to provide feedback from your recent visit. I apologize for you poor service experience in the main dining room and assure you that we are working many changes for this dining option. We have recently brought in a new Executive Chef who has been working on menus and training the team as the Chef's Festival will be discontinued when the restaurant reopens for dinner in December. The Dining Room will be taken back to an a la carte menu providing an upscale dining experience. I am sorry that we had not implemented this change prior to your visit, however this new chef has been here less than two weeks. Thank you again for your feedback as this allows us to improve the experience for all future guests.

This hotel is the business. We are used to first class travel & Hotels and this place is on a par with the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. Can't speak highly enough of the place. We were there for three days to see the foliage, but I bet it's just as good with snow capped Mountains in the winter. Rooms, scenery, service, cleanliness, pools, both indoor & outdoor, facilities, shops, valet service for car, complimentary bus to various amenities / facilities and....... food to die for. Ok it's not cheap, but I can tell you, you definitely won't regret it. Total decadence - go for it

Room Tip: Ask for a Deluxe 2 Queen Bed rear mountain view room. Fabulous.

Whilst the hotel has a 'wow' factor from the approach and outside, the room we had was nothing special, whilst the main dining room was poor and very disappointing. I had chosen the hotel for my wife's 'special' birthday and we were impressed by the initial view on approach by road and the welcome we received (they even had a man operating the customer elevator). However, the room had no kind of view and the bathroom was quite small. The doors were badly in need of a new coat of varnish and air conditioning had a quite loud background noise.

Having made such a fuss about the dress code in the main dining room ( I even bought a new jacket especially!) we made a reservation for 8 p.m. We arrived on time to be told they were still making up a table and could we wait in the bar and they would call us. At 8.45 I enquired if the table was ready, to be told in a few minutes. When we went in it was so disappointing, with a self-service buffet, called the Chef's Festival buffet, with luke-warm dishes that were not of the quality expected of such a high price. Many of the other guests were dressed in very casual clothes ( well below cruise ship standards) that made us feel over-dressed.

The 'server' was not very attentive and having mentioned when reserving the table that it was a special birthday there was nothing special at all provided.

Overall the restaurant had the ambiance of a McDonalds. Very, very disappointing.

They did say they were changing back to a la carte dining soon, but that was no compensation for the let-down. They did give a reduction when I complained on checking out.

The other restaurant 'Stickney's' had better food and service, but the service was still not up to high standard and we had to ask a number of times for some items as our server disappeared for lengthy spell.

If the Omni Mount Washington Resort received the 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award, its certainly gone down hill quickly!!!

Room Tip: Stay in local motel, take some photos of th outside of the main lodge and the main public lounge

Thank you for the opportunity you provided us to serve you as our guests for this special occasion and for taking the time to provide feedback from this visit. I do apologize that our restaurants failed to live up to your expectations for quality and for the lack of attention you received from your servers. You were informed correctly that the chefs festival will be discontinued and the Dining Room will go back to an a la carte when it re-opens for dinner service next month. We have a new Executive Chef and he has been working on new menus and training the staff to prepare the team for the revamped service. I am also sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your room assignment. One of the challenges with a historic hotel is that there are no standard rooms, which will impact the room and bathroom sizes for the exact same room type. Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback.
