“Cozy Country Inn with Five Star Customer Service”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

This is a great alternative to the "Castle in the Clouds" just above. We stayed here the week-end after the Columbus Day holiday. It was still expensive ($329) but cheaper than the its parent, the Mount Washington Resort AND it included a breakfast at either place (buffet at the Mount Washington or a la carte at the Inn). We have never stayed at either place although we have driven by and said "maybe someday". You want to choke when you see the prices but it's something everyone should do once. For one thing, the view when you drive in is indescribable. Kind of like describing the Grand Canyon to someone who has never been.....the resort is dwarfed by the mountains behind it. Everything at the big hotel is...well "BIG", from the porches, to the lobby, to the fireplace. Every woman should make a date to go to the spa and do nothing. Pay $25 just to sit in the relaxation room, take a sauna or steam and hang out for the day. Splurge on spa services but you could come out completely relaxed just by hanging out! There is also a co-ed outdoor whirlpool. Take a jaunt down the path from the resort hotel to the inn and you feel like you just stepped back in time to a place when it used to be a farm house. The staff is attentive, the parlor with the the fireplace is cozy as is the bar and restaurant. We stayed on the 3rd floor in an end room looking out into the woods (we got one of the last two rooms available). The room had a closet bigger than mine at home, a rain shower shower head and a spa bathrobe (not the thin cheesy kind or even the thick terrycloth kind you usually get in most 4 star hotels)-this was a heavy soft bathrobe! The pillows and bed were to die for and we had turn down service that night, much to our surprise. We had breakfast at the inn the next day which was wonderful, topped off by a pleasant surprise brought to our table, a raspberry smoothie in a tiny shot glass. Reminded me of when we used to be given "palate cleanser" sorbets between courses at some of the finer restaurants in the 80's. (Maybe they still do this at the finer restaurants...we don't go to those places anymore, not worth the price you pay for what you get-we eat just as well at home!). Anyway, this Inn is a more affordable place than the hotel above, although I have to say, I'm socking money away to do that the next time.....

This is a small building on the same grounds as Mt. Washington Resort. There are paths (and shuttles) that will take you to the Grand Hotel but Bretton Arms was more intimate and we were able to connect with a few couples over STAVE puzzles in the common area. Room 14 was on the corner, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was quick, made to order, and very elegant. Walking up and through the stables to visit with the many horses made the trip complete. 1 night at this Inn isn't enough. Nancy at the front desk was truly an asset for our visit. Would not recommend eating at Stickneys or bothering with the Cave.

The Bretton Arms Inn is.part of the Mt Washington Omni Hotel. It's a short walk from the hotel on a lovely wooded path. The Inn was recently renovated and is pet friendly. The dining room is open for an ala carte breakfast daily, and for dinner on Wednesday - Sunday. It is small and comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely dinner there. The staff is well trained, pleasant, and accommodating. My husband had the sweetbreads and I had the scallops. Delicious. The meal was topped off with 2 complimentary chocolate covered strawberries. This is a fairly pricey restaurant, as are the other eating venues at the resort.

We stayed in the Bretton Woods hotel and came here for diner only for a change as the hotel offers little choice when it comes to dining. We were very disappointed. The food was simply bad. The hors d'oevre were already surprising: three pieces of Bell Pepper which were ... well Bell Pepper. We could not find any indication that the cook had done anything with them.

We only learned later that this was a good thing, when we had our main courses. I can only hope that the chef was away and the substitute ill, but doubt it because there were too many signs (eg the bread the butter) indicating that this is a place that wishes to be somewhat special or grand and fails miserably. We would not come back. This place could be nice, but they would need to offer better food.

My husband 11year old grandson and myself spent 3very enjoyable days at this inn midweek. The friendly desk clerk was very welcoming and pleasant anytime we saw her. The room was very spacious with a king bed and it was roomy enough with the rollaway cot for my grandson. The bathroom was very large however it lacked storage and a table to balance the toiletries one brings on vacation. The lighting throughout the room was lacking, but i will say that was THE ONLY complaint we had. Breakfast was included in our room price .We chose the buffet at the Mt.Washington Hotel as it had a fabulous buffet and with a child this vast selection was terrific. The beautiful manicured path extending between hotel and inn was nice to walk every morning . We took the free bus once it got dark after we finished swimming as we were warned about bear sightings on property.Lunch in that same hotel was ok .The service that was not terribly friendly, but suited our needs that day. We ate off property (other than breakfast and this one lunch )as with my grandson it was a better choice. The Trading post down the street has excellent pizza and extremely friendly people.Awesome fudge!loved the ride up Mt Washington by car however riding the cog the next day was definitely more relaxing and we could enjoy the view.. Oh to add to the excitement of our trip, the fire alarm awakened us our last day at 5 AM due to a water situation that took down the ceiling of the restuarant in the inn. We had an awesome room near the stairs and got out quickly. The alarms were functioning and very loud where we were located. On this chilly very early morning the staff offered robes to those who needed one.i would definitely return with my family.

Room Tip: Wonderful indoor pool...

We stayed at the Mount Washington Hotel, but we had dinner here. Both the food and the service were excellent. They definitely deserve their 4-Diamond rating. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. After taking our order, we were brought an "Amuse Bouche" which was excellent! In addition, they brought us an "intermezzo" in between the appetizers and the main course. Both our appetizers and main courses were fantastic! The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced This is a first class restaurant. In our opinion, better than the Main Dining Room at the Hotel.

This is a small inn on the grounds of the Omni Mount Washington Hotel. You can take a shuttle or walk to the big hotel and use all of the resort amenities like the spa, pool, golf, or restaurants. This inn has been renovated recently and the rooms and dining area have been redecorated. We had breakfast in the Bretton Arms dining room and the staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. Our room was very comfortable with two queen beds and a new bathroom. It is great if you want to have a lower room rate and a cozier atmosphere.
