Omni Bretton Arms Inn at Mount Washington Resort
Certificate of Excellence

The location is to die for. The Omni sits in the shadow of New Englands tallest Mountain, Mount Wastington. The views are breath taking. The service from the moment you chck in is unmatched. The food at thier resturants is top notch.

Room Tip: All the rooms at the Bretton Arms are unique.

I travel extensivly for work and i'm used to a basic level of service and cleanliness - the Bretton Arms didn't meet it.

The threadbare carpets in the hallway started the alarmbells ringing but as we entered the room we were greated by a HOLE in the carpet, dust & dirt on the window mantle, cobwebs clining to the corner walls in the bathroom and saggy squeeky beds. I quietly noted to the front desk that they might like to ask housekeeping to cast a duster over the windows while we were out the following day but to no avail!

There was advertised free wifi, however after asking for 3 different access codes, we couldn't access it and gave up after an hour of trying - interestingly I met 2 other guests with their laptop having similar problems at the front desk when I went to ask for assistance.

Service at the Bretton arms and it's parent hotel up the hill- the Mount Washington - was seriously lacking. Almost EVERYONE was easter European, speaking little English , had little training and struggled to deliver the service you expect for the pricetag the Bretton Arms and the Mount Washington commands. They routinely misunderstood our orders, brought them in a very strange order, spilled, were unattentive and unappologetic. It certainly makes for an uncomfortable dining experience in the Bretton arms - too small and quiet to relax and the service is too poor to pass it off as pretentious!

The veiw from the Mount Washington Veranda is specatcular and could be appreciated over lunch on a sunny day without forking out the money to stay in one of their dirty, tired rooms.

Sadly disappointed.

Lovely grand hotel. Too bad the on-line reservation system fails to tell you that you might be NOT staying in it, but at their smaller inn on the property. While there were staff members who were genuinely nice, many of them were NOT and the overall experience was certainly lacking. In fact, it was so bad, we explored checking into another resort, the Mountainview Grand in Whitefield. The atmosphere at THAT hotel was outstanding --- even though we were not registered guests, we were treated well, and the lobby was full of happy faces on the guests and staff. What a contrast to the Mount Washington! I will say this, the worst offenders at the MW were LOCALLY hired staff members. International staff members were especially well trained, and helpful. They are the only reason I rated this as average, and not poor.
There were any number of little things that just added up to a dissatisfying experience. First, the booking issue. Second, the rudeness of some of the staff. Third, cold soup in one of the restaurants. Next, ordered a particular brand of Scotch (from their menu) and was actually asked by the bartender if it was on the menu (don't you know??), they were out of it. Not a huge deal, but part of the trend. Next, got the wrong change back from meal bill. Next, tried to watch a ballgame in the bar, TV not working properly "It gets like that". Next, rained out of golf package, had to convince them to give us a rain check (not their policy!). Get the picture?
On the plus side, food at one of the restaurants was very, very good. Some staff excellent. Breakfast, over priced for the quality, but exquisitely served.
Next time, we'll book the Mountainview!

Room Tip: Call first, don't use online booking.

For the price, it can't be beat! If you compare the pricing with the bigger Mount Washington resort, it's a no brainer to stay at the inn instead of its bigger sister. You get all the benefits of the larger hotel, but with the charm of a small place. We loved our stay. The rooms were homey and the staff was very friendly. Staying at the Bretton Arms gives you access to all the facilities at the Mount Washington Hotel. You can choose to take the shuttlebus or do like we did, walk the little trail up to the hotel. We chose a package with breakfast included and it was served at the hotel. It's served buffet-style breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. We felt like we were on a cruise. Not to mention that the view was to die for!

Made a 3day reservation for ski weekend with 2 kids. Turns out the place is pet friendly which was a problem for us as my kids are allergic to dogs and cats. Harriet, the innkeeper was so nice to find us an alternate room at the Omni Mount Washington. Although our trip, service was most excellent. The place is beautiful and skiing was amazing. There were plenty of powder and kids absolutely loved skiing in glades. We can't wait to go back.

Recently stayed at the Bretton Arms Inn, our room was very clean, although not totally sound proof, but king-size bed was very comfortable. The staff at both hotels were very attentive and professional. The close proximity, shuttle service to the ski area and between the hotels, plus all the amenities at the Mt. Washington Resort and Spa was an added bonus.

Unfortunetaley, this place offers a lot of fluff but lacks the quality for which you are paying. First, the room was cleaned but things like the mouthwash bottle was never replaced. The breakfast selections were minimal and nothing special, and each day we were told that there were so many guests that the cook was behind so we waited. The second day at breakfast, we were asked to wait in the hall since the cook was behind, although we could see available seats in the restaurant. Plowing of the driveway took place at 3AM in the morning right outside our window which woke us up after which we were wedged in and got stuck getting out. It has been renovated, but done very cheaply. We were told the bus to the ski area would take 2 minutes, but we waited 30 minutes outside in the cold after we called. Lost an IPhone charger. In calling Lost and Phone 3 times, I got a message, no person, and no call back. Got wrong directions to a local restaurant. I would definitely not retrun to this place. Just received a call and the Iphone USB adapter could not be found.

We are disappointed that we did not meet all of your expectations during your recent stay at the Bretton Arms. You do not mention the specific dates of your stay, but it sounds like it may have been during the busy school vacation week, at which time things like shuttle pick-ups can take a bit longer than usual. We do not feel this is acceptable, and we are continuously trying to improve our level of service and the quality of the guest experience during all dates of stay. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope that you will give us the opportunity to meet all of your expectations on a future visit to Omni Bretton Arms Inn.
