This place looks pretty on the website and on post cards, but believe me its not. When you walk into your tiny, tiny room it looks like you just walked into a 17th century storybook-no tvs, old wallpaper and creaky doors. THe place is run down on the outside as well as the inside. It says it borders the saco river. IT doesn't. YOu need to drive a mile and a half to get to the river. But the owners are extremely hospitable and friendly and the breakfast was good. Overall, we would never stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback. Not sure why there is a complaint about no tv when the guest booked a small inn room without a tv. We have a dozen other rooms to choose from that do have a television, are a larger size with more amenities for a higher price so if you would like a tv and a larger room all you have to do is book one. The other nice thing is that although the bedroom is small inn guests also have use of the large inn living room with big screen tv, games, computer, and wifi. Many guest like to gather in the living room to relax and then go to their bedroom to sleep. This family seemed to have a good time however on the last morning the father was in the living room enjoying wifi and thus missed breakfast. He was angry that we had not know that he wanted to be seated in the dining room but he did not ask the host in the dining room to be seated. The innkeeper wished he could have anticipated this need. The innkeeper still offered the guest breakfast but he declined. We believe this incident triggered a bit of an untrue review in retaliation. We work hard to renovate but keep the feel of the period of the home. This room was recently renovated and the wallpaper is actually new but an antique style to keep with the 1885 period of the home - it is a lovely small flower not a big overwhelming one and 2 of the walls are painted a relaxing feng shui blue with original White Mountain Artwork displayed!. Most guests enjoy this small inn room for a family of 3 for its low price and period charm. Innkeepers have considered removing the twin bed in this room to give more space but feedback from our regular guests is that they want the option of this low cost room for their family which is not possible without the twin bed. There is no claim for the Bartlett Inn to be on the Saco River yet we are close to a nice village swimming hole about half mile – the water is crystal clear! In the 10 years of ownership vast improvements have been done each year to name a few...complete renovation of all inn rooms, new in ground heated pool, new floors put into 8 cottages replacing carpet, new inn porch and roof, new bathrooms in 4 cottage rooms, entire inn exterior repainted, 2012 barn renovated into two awesome spacious guest rooms (Called Pinkham and Crawford Rooms..try them)..the list goes on and on. As you can image taking over and renovating an 1885 historic inn is an ongoing endeavor and the Innkeepers strive to continue to renovate yet maintain the 1885 period charm of this cozy bed and breakfast home! We welcome you to stay with us!

Stayed here two nights and had a great experience. The cottages are cute and have just enough room. The owners are so personable, Nick sat with each family to give them tips about where to go an where to eat. The location is great, not too far from the mountains to hike and just outside of town. Pool is great and apparently there is a hot tub but we didn't find it. Breakfast was great, though it took a while. No wifi in the cottages and poor cell reception- just FYI. Good value, would definitely come back!

We recently stayed at the Bartlett Inn for our visit to nearby Storyland. What a wonderful experience! The owners take such pride in their property and it shows in every detail. The inground pool was crystal clear, the small playground for the kids was just enough to occupy my son before dinner and the homemade breakfast was delish! We are planning another trip to the White Mountains in the Fall and will stay at the Bartlett Inn for sure. We hope to make it an annual visit!

Room Tip: We stayed in themain house. Next visit I would like to try out the private cottages with fireplaces...

Having spent many of my formative years living in a Bed and Breakfast that my parents owned, in addition to staying in many during my travels... I must say that this little gem is at the top of my list. We stayed in the tremont cottage, which is a double room at the end of the row of cottages. The room was well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The linens made you feel like you were staying at grandma's house. The place had a cool "summer camp" vibe to it and we all felt extremely welcome right off the bat by Nick the innkeeper. My 2 boys (5 and 6) loved the play structure and the beautiful pool. Breakfast was outstanding - the huevos rancheros kept me going all day long (as Nick said they would). When you stay here - make sure to take Nick's advice, all of the restaurants he suggested were spot on and the tips for traveling around the area and navigating Storyland were perfect. For those of you visiting this area for the first time, you'll want to stay in Bartlett, the traffic in North Conway is absurd. Really, I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be happy staying here... we're going to make it an annual tradition!

we brought our daughter and our two grandchildren to Storyland. We took advantage of the free Storyland admission for a two night stay.

This great mountain facility is in the midst of towering pines Smart and courteous service. You will enjoy the breakfast. Our grandchildren enjoyed the playground and pool.

The guest were like us: either three-generation families or young professionals with children.

When we return for Santa's Village we will be back.

We definitely recommend this modest family-run inn.

The accommodations:
- We had very nice third floor room in the B&B house.
- perfectly comfortable, even on a very hot July night, without having to use the AC, just the ceiling fan.
- comfortable bed, nice linens,
- perfectly clean

The amenities:
- wifi worked fine
- common sitting room was comfortable and had some nice guide books, bird books, etc.
- pool was extremely well-maintained. Impeccably clean, but not over-chlorinated.

Dining:
- solid, satisfying breakfast. Not gourmet but a good start to the day.
- the coffee could be a little stronger, but we do tend to like our Joe on the strong side.
- the hummingbirds visiting the feeders in the dining room window were VERY cool!

Proprietors:
- wonderful, friendly, hardworking people
- Nick was very generous with his time, being sure to give personal attention to his guests
- he provided many well-explained options for things to do, after listening to our interests and constraints

Location:
- extremely convenient to Storyland, skiing, hiking, swimming, restaurants, etc.
- conveniently located on right on Rt 302, but the traffic noise was no problem.

Value:
- we think it would be hard to find something as nice for the price anywhere in the area.
