“great place for everyone”

Bear Notch Ski Touring Center
Reviewed August 2, 2013

While Bear notch is far from the fanciest touring center around, it's still a great place to ski. The trails really do range from easy, easy beginner, up through alot of fun for a strong experienced skier. The trails aren't 30 feet wide and "perfect" but at the same time you feel like your skiing on trails and not roads.......what can be really nice though is they connect into bear notch road, which under the right conditions adds a great ski way up high, and a really nice time coming down :)

It is dog friendly so we are able to include our dogs in our exercise. The area is so beautiful. The people are really nice and they spend a lot of time grooming.

Bear Notch was one of the few places that had great skiing despite rain & foggy weather throughout New Hampshire. It is located in the oldest house in Bartlett and the owners run it efficiently yet with a very comfortable flair. Rentals are modern and in excellent condition. Prices are good although no credit cards are taken. The owners were helpful in showing us the best runs for our ability. The trails go through the woods and along a river, very scenic, also well groomed and maintained. Take a break in the barn where home made bread is served for free. Two hearty soups are offered for a mere pittance. You will end your day relaxed and energized after visiting here. This place is like old NH. It was the highlight of our trip.

The host was very friendly/helpful. The trails were nice and we had a wonderful time. We will return if we ever ski in the area. $12 for 60 yrs and over! (We are not getting younger.)

We had a great time skiing in mid-February. The only down side to the adventure was that the very heavy winds of the night before had covered the trails in the soft woods (pines, etc) with pine spills and hemlock debris. Once we got along the river and in the hardwoods the trails were great and it was sheltered from the wind unlike some of the ski courses in the region. It was a busy holiday weekend but because it is such a large trail system we rarely came across other skiers.
It is a great activity for beginners and advanced skiers. They rent the equipment and it is very reasonable.
