This was our third stay in as many years. Just as quaint, cool and romantic as can be. Surrounded by honkin' huge pine trees mixed with Aspen that had amazing leaves which shimmered and fluttered in the breezes. Beautifully-landscaped gardens brimming with flowers, which are getting better each year we come. Enchanting big dark clear blue refreshing swimming pool plus hot tub, with lots of lounge furniture. We loved our swims and found water temps perfect. Conveniently located, clean gas BBQ's with nice picnic tables and swings. Manicured big lawn plus a half-court basketball hoop for the kids to play safely. Quite dog friendly (wish we had brought our dog, instead of paid for dog sitter). One of our fav's: way cool retro stainless steal stoves/ovens with completely furnished kitchenettes that save us money, plus cable on our two remote controlled TV's and a DVD player. Nifty masonry fireplace. Quite friendly, helpful staff and owner. Our suite was again spotlessly clean and impecabbly maintained (no sign of any pet odors or bugs referenced by another reviewer several years ago). This classic old resort has been impecably maintained and upgraded, with TLC to our delight. Highly recommend. We'll certainly be returning next summer and recommending to our friends and family members.

Room Tip: Oh, didn't learn until the AM we were leaving that this Resort offer their guests use of their c...

We've been going to the Pine Cone for 25 years. It's very comfy and quiet, and the upgrades are great while keeping the charm. Most of the employees have been there a long time, andthey are very helpful.
We love the Cone!!

I was traveling this summer with my family of 6 and we stayed here because of the kitchens in the room and it said it was spacious...Yea right! It was cramped our fridge did not work properly. Took the kids to go swimming in that nice looking pool in the photos...couldn't even go swimming the pool was REALLY dirty and SOOOO cold!!!! There was no hospitality. I watched the way the owner talked to his employees and let me just nicely say UNEXCEPTABLE!! No one should be spoken to that way!!!....It was inappropriate to do (several times) in front of Paying guests especially with children! We should not have had to have our kids go through something like this. We left and ended up staying at The Lakeside Inn, great hospitality there, nice pool too.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. Don't waste your money here!

This is a nice, quiet and rustic get away and is a one-of-a-kind. The owners are friendly and very nice and do care about their customers. Of course this is a trip back to the 40's! That is the idea, duh.....Geez, these people that complain about that should stay at a casino where they belong and not here! This is no place for you that cannot handle a real resort from a time long ago. This IS a step back in time to the 40's and is done very well! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and spotless. We loved the fireplace and the wood paneling straight from 1940. The combo sink and stove was right out of an old Airstream trailer from an era gone by. This IS nostalgia and rocks! We love this place and will be back! Ignore the few bad reviews from a couple of dif names from Chicago- they are the same person and are scammers that try to get money back from hotels by complaining.

Room Tip: Try to get room 320. That was our room and is a good one being on the second floor.

What makes this place special is the staff. Nann, Shannon, Raymond, Leslie and everyone else makes you feel welcomed and will do what they can to accomodate your needs. The hotel is dog friendly, so much so that all of the staff went on a search party to find my missing dog! Great trails near by and the lake is right across the street. The rooms are old but charming and great for families wanting to kick back and relax.

The resort describes itself as "Classic Old Tahoe Charm". It is certainly a world away from the glitz of the State Line casinos. The units are probably 50 years old but have been well-maintained and are clean and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the nearby beaches and hikes along the lake shore. The property borders US 50 and there is a lot of traffic noise during the day but we were unaware of any at night. The units are set around a nice lawn (used for weddings) in a grove of old pines. Be prepared to park in tight spaces by your unit.
