We heard about the Flyaway vacation package to Wendover. The flight was O.K., but the hotel and the way we were treated was phenonemal. The room was fantastic. The service was beyond reproach and the best part is that a person can win on their machines and blackjack tables. Where did you last encounter that little tid bit? It's easy to go on as there were -0- negatives. Spacious, "Clean" Room. Great service, extraordinary food......... We're going back, SOON!!

Room Tip: Near the elevator, makes getting to & from your room easiest. Great for those "Late"...

first trip to Wendover and glad we spent extra and booked the Montego....pool was fine but lacked shade. Interestingly- the gym was top notch with pro equipment. food was pricy and mediocre. most areas of hotel/casino short staffed. Rooms very good and large, nicely appointed. And- some of the best blackjack rules in the world.....

Room Tip: new wing....overlooking pool

Hubby and I spent 2 days in Wendover. We stayed at the Montego Bay hotel - the room was spacious and clean. No TV guide though so had to surf everytime to find a show to watch. The casino was so-so - really slow with drinks. We ate at the Oceano Buffet which was terrible, the ice tea was tasteless, had the color. The food was awful. The Asian portion was sad, all the dishes were cooked with red peppers - almost like a one pan deal! the majority of those dishes were spicey - so good luck to those who do not like spicy Chinese food! The salad bar used have more varieties, there was no fish dishes during the week days, Mexican cuisine looked yucky, none of the different cuisines looked appetizing at all! The desserts section was a laugh. so don't waste money eating there.

Room Tip: Aim for the higher floors.

Our family stays at the MBCR on our way to Lake Tahoe every year. We find the rooms to be comfortable and clean & the food options good. The pool leaves a lot to be desired, but after a long drive across the dessert it's nice to have a pool to dive into.

The Buffet is very pricey, but it has a nice selection of food.

Room Tip: book rooms with double kings - larger

We travelled to Wendover, Nevada via Allegiant Air from Bellingham, Washington on August 23rd and returned on August 26, 2012. This was our fourth trip to Wendover and enjoyed our stay equally this time as the first time. We stayed at the Montego Bay Resort and Casino as it has a gym and outdoor pool that we both use. The slots are not forgiving and we certainly left a few dollars behind on this trip.
The restaurants in the resorts here are outstanding! We enjoyed the Seafood Extravaganza at the Oceano Buffet at the Montego Bay on Friday night and fillet at the Steak House at the Rainbow on Saturday evening. We also attended the Tanya Tucker concert at the Concert Hall at the Peppermill Resort on Friday evening that provided great entertainment for the money.
The points that keep us coming back each year are the friendly staff, great food, and 4*+ accommodations that add up to great value for the money. The downside is the delays in leaving Bellingham and also the return flight due to having to make unscheduled landings to refuel due to the extreme heat in Wendover.
We also left the Montego Bay Resort with two recommendations, one being to change-out the air conditioners for ones that sound less like a diesel engine idling in the room, and secondly that they build something like an arbour screen as a sunscreen around the pool. It seems that the wind does not allow them to use conventional sun umbrellas resulting in no shade in the pool area where the mid-afternoon sun can bring temperatures to well over 100 degrees during the summer.
That said, we look forward to our next trip to Wendover for another good value-for- the- price vacation.

A life time ambition to see Speed week brought us here and we were happy about it. The corner room was huge, clean and quiet. Although NO fridge. One of the sinks was converted into a big ice bucket for beers. Every casino hotel i have ever stayed in has the same attitude as here, where obviously they want you to gamble,to blow your dough. We did all right, about ten hours gambling cost us about a hundred bucks, given the comp drinks i dont think it was too bad. Staff were friendly and helpfull. Decor is Tat-Tastic! Speed week bumped the prices up to about $270 a night.

Who knew? August in Nevada...surely, no one would be around, even with the lure of casinos.
Wrong! We were helping our daughter move from Colorado to California, so we planned for a night on the road. There were no rooms available in Elko, Winnemucca, and Ely. That made West Wendover, NV the default option. Now, we're seasoned travelers and we've had our share of unpleasant travel experiences, but the Montego Bay Casino Resort fell into the "Never Again" category. I'm not even talking about the Casino "look". That's to be expected, but the staff attitude was not. From the tourist standpoint, the employees at the Montego Bay are an unhappy bunch. I don't think we saw a smile (when we could locate one--our waitress was missing in action, and the front desk lobby crew weren't even on duty.)

Surprisingly, our room was clean and comfortable, but the trek from the elevator in sub-zero air conditioning made it a difficult trip. Oh, and don't forget the toilet bowl plunger that was leaning up against the wall when we checked in. And, it was still there when we left the next morning.
