We have been good monthly customers for the past 10 years, in the past several years we have started to visit other locations for getaways. The reason is that you're customer rewards have been trending downward. Examples are being assigned specific days to come out and get your birthday gift dollars, having the promotional offers only include one weekend night, (we work during the week as we are not retired). We used to get monthly promotional monies for both of us and now it's just once in a while and then only one of us gets it. We are flooded with promotional offers from you and we find ourselves going to Mesquite and Las Vegas because their offers are much more accomidating to our needs. The 2 promotion employees Doug & Rick are why we still come to your hotel.

The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They let us check in early. We saw the entertainment and they were old school which for my parents was perfect and I enjoyed them as well. :)

Room Tip: Just remember to stay in the new wing because the old one is not as nice and definitely not worth it...

Stayed at the Rainbow from Oct. 19 - 22, 2012 as a package in conjunction with Allegiant Air. The hotel was very good, spacious room, clean, friendly, helpful staff and large casino where it was not too smokey. Food in the hjotel was good and a shuttle service was provided to take you to the other four casino / hotels in town. Not much else to do in Wendover other than gamble. Only negative about the hotel was the swimming pool; small and difficult to get to, especially if you were in the West Wing. The flight both in and out via Allegiant was not a good experience. Actual flight....O.K. flight times....accurate....time we were told to expect on ground vs actual time spent was ridiculous. If a stop is going to take 45 minutes, don't announce 15 minutes.

My husband and I flew into wendover where we stayed at the Rainbow Casino. The room exceeded our expectations. I choose it because it had an indoor pool.

The room was very quiet and comfortable. The bathroom lacked hooks to hand your close and no handles to easily open the shower stall.

The pool was large and the water temperature was good. However, next time I would make sure I stayed in the east wing to make I had easy access versus needing to walk through the casino.

Room Tip: If you want use the indoor pool with easy access make you ask for the east wing.

So, I live in Salt Lake City, a 90-minute drive from West Wendover, Nevada. My husband and I are both avid gamblers. We enjoy it a great deal and go to Vegas whenever possible. However, because of the close vicinity of West Wendover, we go there quite often, like twice a month or so. The three main hotel/casino resorts in town, The Peppermill; The Rainbow; and The Montego Bay, are all owned by The Peppermill Group out of Reno. The decor, service, food quality, and gambling are all very similar in those three casino resorts. By similar, I mean average. Our destination of choice has become The Peppermill, because we seem to have the best luck gambling there, and because they have renovated some of their rooms from the dark dingy 80s porn look most of the older rooms still have. The Rainbow is also undergoing renovations. I have yet to stay in a renovated room there, but the older rooms are quite dark and dingy. We always make sure to request a renovated room. The other thing that has kept us coming back to The Peppermill, and their sister resorts, are the comps. We are invited to tournaments with free stays, and offered free nights and free play approximately four times per month. Upon check in, we have generally found a hotel staff that is either in dire need of a raise, a vacation, or customer service training. Perhaps all three would be the perfect solution. This attitude seems to pervade all three properties. Just don't expect a very friendly check in process, and you won't be disappointed. Do, however, check your bill very closely upon check out, and then check the status of the credit card used regularly once you're home, as I have had more than one experience with strange charges showing up. Last time it was an unaccounted for $89 charge from the Peppermill, which showed up on my credit statement quite a while after my visit. The credit card company was contacted, the casino/hotel was contacted, and the situation was resolved. Honestly though, I'm quite concerned it occurred in the first place. Another issue we regularly experience is the less-than-clean room conditions. The worst of it during our most recent visits though was that none of the surfaces in the main rooms area appeared to have been wiped down...ever. There were definitely several visits worth of grunge and grime apparent on the main t.v. console, the guest table, and the bedside tables. This makes me fear for what I might have slept in or on in past years' stays. As far as the bathroom, there have always been cleanliness issues at all three of the Peppermill run hotels in town as far as I'm concerned. I started bringing my own disinfecting wipes a long time ago. I can't remember a visit (and there have been hundreds) where I did not find a long dark hair (not my own) in the shower upon my arrival. Once I arrived at the Rainbow to a half empty soda and cookie wrapper on the t.v. console. The saving grace of the Peppermill properties used to be the jacuzzi tubs in the suites, but now, a heavy "sludge" regularly comes to the top of the tub once the jets are turned on. The enjoyment and relaxation definitely stops when one is trying to get out of a full jacuzzi tub onto a slippery marble floor. The suites also boast sauns steam showers, which are very nice when the door closes completely. So with that, on to the casino. The Rainbow has a smallish gaming floor, from which square footage was recently taken to make way for a large remodeled gift shop. The floor does provide a wide variety of slot machines and table games. The number of quarter and dollar machines seem to be dwindling to make way for the more popular nickle and penny machines, which I don't mind, as a max bet on one of these is equal to the couple dollars per bet on a dollar machine anyway. It has been my experience that the slots pay pretty consistently in Wendover. We usually almost break even. Obviously, we wouldn't be going once or twice a month otherwise. The gaming table prices are very reasonable compared to Vegas tables. Most of he bar and floor cocktail staff are all very friendly and appreciative of a tip. The floor cocktail staff has gotten smaller and smaller as the economy has gotten worse, so unfortunately, they are overworked and sometimes there can be quite a long wait between drinks. There is nightly entertainment at the Rainbow (dark Mondays), which leads to some overcrowding on weekend nights. Not to worry though, the three Peppermill-owned casinos run buses and shuttles between all the properties 24 hours a day if you're looking for a quieter experience. I have enjoyed listening to the drunken hi-jinks of other passengers on these shuttles regularly. It makes for a very interesting ride. The Rainbow has a decent buffet. There is usually a little something for everyone. I'm easily pleased and don't expect Michelin Star dining when I go to a casino buffet, so it's pleasingly average. Another restaurant in the Rainbow is the new Primo deli and 24-hour coffee shop (the old coffee shop remodeled with some added space..taking up even more of the casino floor). Primo is really really good, particularly the Deli items on offer. The sandwiches are thick and satisfying and come accompanied by a fresh zesty pickle. Deli items are not on offer 24 hours a day, which is a shame. I suggest ordering a sandwich to go and taking it to the Sportsbook, where you can enjoy it while watching the sporting event of you choice. Primo also boats a new bar of approximately eight or so seats. It's a good place to escape the casino floor and play some video poker. The Steakhouse is also located in The Rainbow. It offers a more upscale dining experience, including a nice wine list. Our meals at the Steakhouse have been pretty universally good. It is a little expensive, definitely a good option for using some of your comp dollars or if you enjoy a big win. The service at the Steakhouse is very attentive and professional. We especially enjoyed the table-side Bananas Foster from the dessert menu. The best spot for people watching at the Rainbow is the long Bimini Bar, with seating for approximately 20, and our favorite nickle machines. The Sports Book at The Rainbow is bar far Wendover's nicest. It features a sizable bar and dedicated seating around many large screens. The Sportsbook clerks at Rainbow are not friendly or helpful in any way, in fact they don't seem to have much knowledge of the day's important sporting events. Perhaps a daily briefing of some sort on important World sporting events, not just a reliance on knowing when the next Utah Jazz game is, would be in order? The Rainbow has a fitness center and an indoor pool, neither of which have I visited. So, that's what I have to say about The Rainbow these days. Not totally impressed with my last trip, but still tempted enough by those comps to be returning for two nights next week. I really hope things are better, because we just got back from Vegas, and realized with gas prices what they are now, flying into Vegas and getting comped by The MGM Grand is much more tempting than Wendover could ever be. Anyway, please wish us luck, and if you happen to find yourself in Wendover, I wish you luck too!!

Room Tip: Never agree to stay in the East Wing. It's separate from the main hotel, very claustrophobic, an...

I booked this room online based on the photos of their website. The rooms do have some nice features but they are a bit dated. The steam room and hot tub worked very well. The bathroom was tired and the sheets were scratchy. Some of the rope lights were out. The walls were thin too as I could here someone sneezing in the room next to mine loud and clear. No bad smells or obvious filth. I'll look a little harder then next time I stay in W. Wendover but would'nt rule out this hotel.

Room Tip: I missed the Steak House but their buffet was good

We stay frequently at the Rainbow Casino because of all the Casinos in West Wendover, the staff treats us better than at any other Casino. The PR staff are outstanding and make us feel at home and that our needs are always their priority. Rick Portella is like a best friend to us, we love spending time visiting with him. With Rick, its like visiting with family. Marjorie Perez is so attentive to our needs and Doug Settle is very friendly and accommodating. They are all just the greatest in our book. We recommend everyone that we know that stays out there to stay at the Rainbow. We are always in the West Wing and the rooms are very clean and inviting.

Room Tip: The suites and mini suites are our favorite. The hot tubs and bars in the suites make relaxing so wo...
