We often stop in Tonopah while traveling between Las Vegas and Sparks. This time we chose Pittman Cafe for dinner. The restaurant is located in the Hotel Mizpah, an aging lady with a lot of old fashioned class. Prior to dinner we visited the bar, a long, ornate wooden classic with a gregarious bartender. The restaurant continues that atmosphere, and offers a classic steakhouse menu with some informal options. My wife had a chicken wing appetizer with a bleu cheese dressing dipping sauce. Good, crispy, flavorful – just the way she likes them. I had a Nevada Salad, which is a Cobb variation with sliced strip steak cooked to order. With bleu cheese dressing on the side. Excellent food. Our server, Nicole, was cheerful and attentive. The dining options in Tonopah are limited. Pittman Café is a nice treat. We’ll be back.

We have not yet eaten or stayed at the Mizpah but we like to get a drink at the bar and talk to both locals and travelers from all over the world. We recommend you stop in and wet your whistle anytime day or night.

Rooms are nicely appointed with very comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms, antique furniture and light fixtures. This amazing hotel was saved from the wrecking ball by a wonderful wine making family from Sonoma. The Mizpah hotel is a beautiful gem in the desert. The hotel is listed on the Historic Registry. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and inviting. The staff are wonderful, the food in the hotel restaurant is great and it was a treat to stay here.

Driving from Vegas to Reno and stopped in a storm at the Mizapah for lunch and were really surprized at the quality and taste for the lunch menu. Good prices and good food. Not too many guests which made it more amazing at how good the kitchen and service turned out to be. The hotel itself is a landmark with period pieces throughout and while we didn't stay there, the rooms seemed very promising. Four days later on our return trip we timed our journey to have lunch again and were not disappointed. Highly recommended.

I had a NY Strip sirloin and my companion had shrimp scampi. The steak was a little overcooked and unseasoned (medium rather than medium rare). The rice with the scampi was very salty and sticky. Also, the vegetables were mushy.
