“Decent rooms, good value.”
Reviewed April 9, 2009

The rooms here are average. Good value for 49.99 per night. If you get a room on the second floor plan on carrying your stuff up the stairs (no elevators). They have a patio connected to the rooms. The beds are not very comfortable. The room had a musty old smell and a hint of cigarette smoke. They are decorated like a log cabin. The bathtub was level with the floor which was kind of strange. Not very many TV channels to choose from (maybe 20). Free wireless :) Quiet rooms.

Well my husband Chris & I have stayed at the Lakeside several times and have alawys enjoyed it.
This time we did have one problem, we had booked one of their Jacuzzi suites, The room was like an ice cicle when I walked in so i went to turn on the heaters and the one in the living room was melted... the plug in & the cord. Also there was NO weather stripping around the build in heater so you could see outside, if you looked right at it!
I called the front desk and someone was there to fix it in about 10 min, but they ended up moving me to the other suite because the problem could not be fixed right away.
But the rest of the stay was great our new room was clean & relaxing.
It was my husbands birthday and we got nothing but the best of service in the casino & restaurant.

With its fun casino, small poker tournaments, extremely inexpensive drinks, and friendly staff, the Lakeside Inn is easily the best place to stay in South Tahoe. I'll be going back again for certain.

The hotel was not as nice as some of the others down the street but for the price it was located in a very close area to some good casinos like Harveys and Harrahs. Lakeside has its own casino but is very small and dark. The bar does have $3.00 drinks but down the street in the bigger casinos as long as you are sitting at a slot/table drinks are free! The hotel was located somewhat close to some nice lake areas but not walking distance. We had a problem with our first room (nail sticking out of strip between carpet and bathroom, door didn't close easily and had to be slammed). We were moved to another room that had a view of the pool but was a lot smaller because our previous one was handicapped accessible and had more space, but the hotel would not upgrade our room even though we had an inconvience. Overall, we wouldn't stay here again unless we were on a really cheap budget.

  • Liked — The spa was large and the price was good.
  • Disliked — Problems with the room and not as nice as we were expecting it to be.

My wife and I were passing through and were looking for reasonably priced room for the night. After calling several of the larger casino-hotels in the area (and getting nightly rate quotes in the $200-300 range), we decided to stop in at the Lakeside Inn. Not a huge fancy place but they were clean and extremely friendly. And we got a room for the night for less than $75. And thanks to the clerk at the registration desk, we were tipped off to the fact that we could get a load of free stuff for signing up for their free players club card since it was also my wife's birthday month (a t-shirt, free drink, slot play, free dinner, etc). And the on-site mexican restaurant was an added bonus. Wonderful food that started off with a complimentary serving of chips, fried plantains (a nice touch), and two kinds of salsa.

The only missing room ammenities that would have been nice to have were a refrigerator and microwave. But that was a minor detail and wasn't a big inconvenience since we were only staying one night. The important thing is that we got a great night's sleep since it was so quiet.

Ok this was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. They messed up on our room, there was no water pressure, no hot water or even luke warm water, no room service, the beds tore up our backs, and as far as the employees being friendly, I did not have that experience. The employees seemed like they didn't want to be there so they took it out on you. The front desk should have called us to tell us that there were complications for our room but they didn't. They waited until we got there to tell us, by then everywhere else was booked or wanted 400 for the night. If I would have known that my birthday was ganna suck like that, I would have gone to Jackson California instead.

  • Liked — It was out of the rain
  • Disliked — The location, the employees, messing up on room

We stayed at the Lakeside Inn the weekend of April 25th.
Here are the details for Rm 113 (Suite Rm)

Positives:
nice sized downstairs room
deck
separate sink area with fridge, coffee maker, microwave
sofa and love seat
flat screen tv
soft towels

Negatives
poor lighting in shower area

We had a really nice stay at Lakeside. The coffee shop/rest. has a great breakfast deal for $2.99 and $3 well drinks at the bar.
Staff is very friendly and efficent. My only real complaint is that the slots were very tight. Would stay again!
