“Close to everything. They have some serious issues with their rooms though.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2009

We were very happy at The Lodge. Service was always prevalent and prompt. It was hot the week we were there and since the rooms do NOT have A/C we had to settle for floor fans. There is NO cross ventilation in the main building and we all suffered until around 3 am when the rooms finally cooled to around 75 degrees. The office staff were comfortable though, they had air conditioners behind the front desk and the office next to the front desk. Air conditioners were in the lobby, but since the whole front lobby area closes at 10 PM you have to suffer in the rooms. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KEY IN THE ROOM AFTER 10 PM since there is no staff around!!!! WTF!!!!

The rooms are nice. We had the two bedroom suite and all the amenities were included. That includes washer and dryers. The room we stayed in had holes in the ceiling for wiring to a ceiling fan that was to be installed. Also, it looked as if someone had torn down the trim under the ceiling in most of the rooms. It seems as if they are trying to fix things a little at a time. The sliding privacy door to the bathroom was recessed in the wall with no latch or handle to pull it out. Fortunately, there was a hole in the frame above it with room to pull the door out. Unfortunately, there is exposed fiberglass insulation and if you are sweating from the excessive heat in the room the fiberglass gets in your pores and the back of my hands itched like crazy.

Other than that.......awesome place.

Stayed at the Lodge at Kingsbury July 22nd-28th, 2009.
Obtained reservation thru timeshare guest pass from a relative, paid approx. $650 /week. One building houses one bedroom units, other building has the two bedroom units. One of the 2 bedroom units MIGHT have a view of the lake. I asked if a view was possible and was told “you are in this building” (whatever that means). We lucked out getting a corner room which meant an extra window for ventilation.

Stayed in one bedroom unit, small “queen” bed - one nightstand; Living Area: one sofa arm chair & fireplace. Fireplace turned off due to temperatures in mid 80’s to low 90’s. There is no air conditioning. (you will find NO air conditioning at most places in Tahoe area) they had two fans in unit. There’s a TV with combo VCR & DVD player. Kitchen Area: Table & chairs, nice size fridge, micro combo convection oven, dishwasher, pots, pans, utensils & soaps included.

Linen/ towel service provided daily whether you want it or not, whether Do Not Disturb sign is on door or not.

Saturday Continental Breakfast free. VCR, DVD movies Free. Game room -- too hot to use. Sauna - with 90 degree temps n/a. Parking is LIMITED. If you get home after 10pm, you’ll be parking away from the building. There is wildlife in the area so you need to be cognizant of your surroundings.

Smokers: STAY AWAY. I was told by time share company that they called the property and that smoking was permitted on the balconies of the rooms. Balcony is a loose term - it is basically 1 ½ feet wide with a guard rail. (see photo). Upon arrival was told, NO smoking on balcony. You needed to go by the recycle dumpster or in parking round a bout which is great at night when the bears are out. (Smoking really is hazardous to your health here.) I spoke with guests from other time share companies and they were also lied to about balcony smoking. It’s a bait & switch and when you travel 2,000 miles to go somewhere… Liars stink whether they smoke or not. The front desk tried to blame this bad info on the time share company. No apology, no follow up. I am a VERY careful smoker with an ashtray that has a lid and wouldn’t think of having the balcony door open when smoking. I had no intention of stinking up their room - I get it.

There are 3 washer/dryer combos in the 2 bedroom building. 2 of them worked when we were there. They are free & you can buy soap from front desk. Washers open at 8am - be there at 8 am if you want to wash something.. There are about 60 units in this complex.

There’s nowhere to really relax outdoors. Front door has nice tiny area but you can’t smoke out there. If you do go out on the "balcony", you are constantly being looked at, our room overlooked the parking lot and there was always someone working outside. There’s no feeling of privacy here. There was more privacy at Harrah’s hotel in Tahoe and Reno. 98% of the property is for the buildings & parking.

Housekeeping staff worked very hard and how they managed not to faint in the heat was beyond me. They also had a housekeeping staff member working the front desk.

I will not be returning here. I am glad I spent 11 days in the area… it gave me the opportunity to talk to locals about better places to stay. The lie when I arrived just ruined my stay. I did have fun in the Tahoe area - I have other reviews out here on trip advisor of other places I stayed at and was entertained at. It is a beautiful area to visit.

I've attended Kingsbury Crossing since I was a very small child and absolutely adore it during the wintertime. The people at the front desk are hospitable and the fireplaces are something to snuggle up to on a cold night. It is on Stateline, thus just out 5 minutes from the casinos and Heavenly but far enough away that you feel nestled in the quiet forest that the resort/hotel borders.
I would say if you truly want to enjoy Kingsbury Crossing, go when the colder months are in for the hot tub, huge lot of snow in the back, and white soft trees that surround the premises. The rooms have recently been renovated and the kitchens have fridges for any snacks you may have an urge for. I love spending my winters there and would go back in a heart beat!

We exchanged our timeshare for a week at The Lodge at Kingsbury Crossing in Stateline, NV. It's at Lake Tahoe, and centrally located to the lake (but no view) and close to downtown casinos.
This is a timeshare that has two 'lodges' or buildings. There are three floors. There is an elevator at one end of each building.
For all intents and purposes, it looks like a hotel. Long hallway, faded, torn, and crummy carpet. We had a one bedroom which would sleep four, as long as privacy doesn't count.
The room had a gas fireplace, kitchenette, a leather couch, and the most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in. The bedroom had a big closet, but no drawers to put clothing in. Bed was fine.
We were there before the snow/skiing season, and after the summer season. It was windy and getting cold, so outside activities were limited. And the room was so uncomfortable that we ended up spending a lot of time in the casinos, which is what we hadn't intended on doing.
The staff was great, and the housekeeping was fine. There's no pool, but two spas (one wasn't working) but it's right down by the front desk area. Continental breakfast on Saturday was good.
This is not a good place to come to relax at the 'resort.'
Would we go back? Never!

  • Liked — Staff was great.
  • Disliked — Comfort and set up of room.

Stayed here the week of September 8-15. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. We had a 2 br on the second of a 3-story building. Location is in Stateline, walking distance to a good local casino, great breakfast spot (Red Hut), and a short drive to the main casinos. Second bedroom is like an inside cabin on a cruise ship - small with no windows. Beds were a double/queen hybrid. Seemed very small. Linens are replaced daily (but you have to take them off and put them on the beds if you want those done), and they empty the trash daily. Otherwise, no cleaning. Living area was comfortable. Great selection of videos at lobby desk you can take out at no charge. Small frig & microwave. No cooking otherwise. Main problems were lack of a balcony you could sit on and enjoy the air and no public areas that didn't face the parking lot. No pool and no view. Good base if you plan on spending most of your time away from the property. Not noisy, which can be a problem in other locations.
