Great place to Gamble but getting a room sometimes takes a little work.I have been told more than once that rooms are held for the high roolers. How do they know who i am ?

We gambled at Harrahs as my Mom is a huge fan of it, but we had to hunt down a waitress as we had been gambling for over 45 minutes before we found one to get a drink. We did win that day!

Harrah's is probably the nicest casino in Tahoe. True, it's an older property, but it's well maintained, Yes, you will encounter cigarette smoke, but it's a casino. The clientele here is nicer than at the the other casinos in town (with the exception of Harvey's). The others (Horizon, Montbleu, the Lucky Beaver) attract a rougher crowd.

Pros: the croupiers and dealers are very, very nice and will answer any questions you have about the games. They have dollar roulette until 8 pm. The drink service rocks if you're playing table games (it's a little tougher if you're playing slots), and the wait staff is very nice. They have good comps (at least they do for locals) and you can qualify for a free room pretty quickly. They have live entertainment on the weekends.

Cons: The slots are pretty tight (really), the American River Cafe is kind of a greasy spoon (But, they're open 24 hours and when you've had a bit to drink who really cares?) and they don't have covered parking (just park across the street at Harvey's and take the tunnel over).

Good assortment of slot and poker machines. Drink service is excellent. Machines tend to be tight on weekends\holidays. Friday and Saturday nights the casino stops being one and becomes a singles bar with drunk frat boys in their 20's looking for some action with the casino barbies who go to the Vex nightclub and who hang out at the center stage dancing to bad hip-hop music.
Remember when casinos would use their restaurants as a "lost leader" to get you in? You wont find that here. Very expensive to say the least and nothing that really stands out though I will say the "Sage Room" in Harveys has quality steaks if you dont mind paying $45 per plate. The buffet tends to be a little above average but $19.99 per person (29.99 on weekends) is just ridiculous.
I remember the good old days of Bill Harrah when the casino was more upscale and customer service was paramount. You wont find that here anymore. Harrahs now lives on a reputation from the past and its quite evident the present is hurting that reputation.

Went with the whole family while on holiday to Harrahs for the all you can eat buffet on the eighteenth floor. Fantastic view and great quality for everyone.

I ate oriental, but there is food from all around the globe... Grandmas to kids were happy. Doors open at 5 30 and there was a long queue so plan ahead but loads of space inside and very children friendly.

The desserts are something you would only dream of.... Amazing....

Dads went to the casino afterwards. A good night out.
