“Great room”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

Large room with a nice view. Very comfortable bed and 2 bathrooms. Rates were very reasonable midweek if booked in advance. Great location for South Lake Tahoe, but still a bit of a drive to ski at Sierra-at -Tahoe. Free self park in a big lot behind the hotel was very convenient.

The most memorable was the 2(Two) full bathrooms and spaciousness of sleeping accommodations. The restaurants were below expectation for the casino and in fact the hotel seems "tired" all except the sleeping areas. Bedrooms were clean, fresh and cheerful. Casinos reeked of stale smoke. Food was expensive, given the quality within the hotel restaurants. We had poor response from hotel personnel regarding other eating establishments, but discovered some very good restaurants in the local area.

Savvy Traveler

Room Tip: Rooms Not on the Road side were quieter.

I spent 3 nights here as part of me and the wife's 25th anniversary trip. We enjoy staying at the casino hotels. Check in was smooth but I must say, the clerk wasn't very welcoming. She maybe spoke 10 whole words to me so the visit didn't start off very good. The hotel itself if very nice. The room was fantastic. I was on the 9th floor which didn't have the views that higher floors did. The 2 bathrooms were a plus and the bed was very comfortable. I didn't sleep very well the first night because of all the yelling from the drunks coming in at 2 am. The walls are pretty thin and sound travels well. We ordered up room service a couple of times and were not disappointed. A full breakfast cost about $50 for the 2 of us. I didn't eat at any of the restaurants in the casino so I can't comment on those although I hear they are pretty good. The casino part wasn't to kind to us. The slot machines took a lot more than what they gave. I know going into casinos that I'm going to lose money but dang,, give me something! There were no black jack tables, only craps and poker. We stayed there from Monday through Thursdsay so it was always pretty empty.
All in all, I would give this hotel an average rating. It was cheap and right next to heavenly so you get what you pay for. I forgot to mention also the $22 per day "resort fee". that's a big shocker. I'm not going to debate it, I just paid it. It covers internet (one connection only), local phone calls (who uses that anymore?) and 2 free passes to the ftiness center per day (never used it).

What can I say Harrahs is great! The rooms are always clean and nice. I love that each room has two bathrooms. I always know what to expect when I come here. The service is always top of the class. Everyone in the casino is friendly. Staying in the casino lets me be in the center of it all. I love the indoor pool that I can use any time of year. It's still in walking distance to the lake and heavenly village shopping. This property is definitely one of my favorites! It's really hard for hotels to give guests the same experience each time because it's hard to maintain hotels and keep things looking nice, but Harrahs does it. Also the rewards system works well for me, instead of paying huge prices for a hotel room outside the casino I gamble that money with the chance to win and they give me discounted to free excellent rooms! Works for me!!

I have stayed several times at the four major hotel/casinos in South Lake Tahoe and Harrah's is by far the nicest you will find. The rooms are remodeled and highlight two separate bathrooms in each room. One shower and one bath in each respectively. The floor tiling is pristine and we love their towels. The one downfall is the shampoo dispensers. You never know what is put in there and I would prefer the old fashion bottles. My only other complaint was their pillows. I prefer a soft one and they only had firm. They provide you with six of them but no soft, flat ones.
You should always request a room with a view of the lake. It is the best way to start your day. The other amenity the hotel has to offer is their pool. It is by far the best on in South Shore and the Summit Floor houses an amazing steakhouse and buffet. The buffet does not serve the regular crowd style food but some great choices. Everything from prime rib, turkey and ham to an Asian, Italian and American style. The down side to their food was the buffet is only open on the weekends for breakfast.
Location is great because it is right next to the Embassy Suites on the California side, so walking distance to their gondola which allows you access to Heavenly Valley skiing in the winter. During the summer, the gondola is used for access to the mountains for hiking or sightseeing. It is also only a few miles away to Zepher Cove for beach activities or Lake water sports

I never wrote a review on TRIPADVISOR, because Harrah's has their own. The Resort is great, and the people make it that way. I had a beautifu room overlooking the lake. In the VIP check-in office, Hospitality Hosts Cymon Whalin,Andrea Killebrew, and Annalyn Ferrer were fantastic with all their help. At the desk Linda, Teal and Pam took great care of me at all time. Frank Greco (Guest Satisfaction director) was one of the friendliest people you would want to meet. Jenny Neely ( Table Games Supervisor) was always helpful. May at the total reward counter was always helpful. I could be a pain sometimes, but they all put up with me with a smile. The Spa was very relaxing. In all, it is a beautiful place to stay. Last but not least Stephany, the host at the Cafe is always friendly with a smile. Both the steak houses at Harvey's or Harrah's are the best. The view at Harveys lounge at sunset is breathtaking. This must sound like a fake review, but it honestly isn't.

Room Tip: Any room ending in 01,02 or 26 is great.

In general the hotel is a bit dated or at least rough around the edges, which is a bit more evident in the bathrooms. Furthermore, I am not sure what comes out of of the shampoo dispenser mounted in the shower. I am assuming they got their bottles mixed up and filled it with soap or something. On the positive side, the extra space by the windows gives you a good place to sit down and relax and the hotel is relatively close to the gondola, although after a long day of skiing it still feels like a death march. Last note, the pool could be a bit warmer and the hot tub requires a little more attention, as you were forced to dodge some strange looking stuff floating on the surface.
