“A very nice hotel, great location.”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Harrahs is the nicest hotel available in South Lake Tahoe. Fantastic rooms. Good service. Many ameneties. Close to ski, shopping, golf, dining, and the lake.

Probably not worth paying over $400 per night, but well worth up to maybe $200 per night. I actually only go if I get the room comped nowadays.

Heads up: there is a resort fee, I believe $20 per night.

We stayed 5 nights at Harrah's at Lake Tahoe recently, and we were generally underwhelmed. The property needs a little attention, and although the staff was friendly and attentive overall, we were somewhat disappointed with management's lack of personal touch. We were in Tahoe celebrating our honeymoon and 2 emails to a particular upper manager went unanswered when I asked for his help in ensuring a special stay.

We booked an executive king room that I was told was amongst their very best, in terms of view and amenities. The lake view is there, if only slightly. The furniture is dated, and although the separate bathrooms are a nice feature, why not go the extra step and provide good toiletries? My shower had the bulk dispenser of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. That's something found more along the lines of a motel 6.

The linens were nice, comfortable mattress and pillows, just not above average as I was expecting from this property. A few upgrades in these areas would really make Harrah's stand out amongst the South Lake Tahoe area hotels.

Harrah's in Tahoe has been my property of choice for about 25 years, but I was a little disappointed with what it has become. Seems they're striving for mediocrity when a few extra touches and improvements could make this an above average hotel.

I was lucky enough to qualify for 3 nights comped at this great casino/hotel, but it would be worth it even at a cost. BTW, the "cost" was at the machines, but that was my choice. The room was fantastic and the 2 bathrooms was a lifesaver. I'm spoiled! The fact that it's attached to Harvey's made it even better. More than enough choices for gaming and dining. I'll review that separately. Take the time to inquire about sight seeing locations. There's plenty to see in this beautiful location.

We stayed for a week in a King Room with a view of the lake and mountains. The room was spacious with a very large curved couch, king size bed, and two bathrooms. TWO BATHROOMS. I read about the bathrooms online, but didn't think much of it until our stay. It was very nice having a two showers for getting ready in the mornings. I would stay again!

Room Tip: Non-smoking, King with a view. Higher up the better.

Our large room had panoramic windows, and two bathrooms. One had a stand up shower and one had a tub/shower combo. We really enjoyed it. They even had a coffee pot in the room, which surprised us. A free continental breakfast would have made it even better, but no casino hotels have this.

Very large spacious room with views of the lake. Very clean and comfortable with sofa and comfy chairs, large flat screen TV, Bathroom with shower, plus shower room with large walk in shower, which was great as we could both get ready to go out at the same time. I am pleased that most of the hotels in US are now non smocking, our room was smoke free and was very fresh. Would stop here again when we next visit Tahoe. Good price for the a lovely room.

I stayed here for three nights in September for a conference. The location is great. It's walking distance to shops, restaurants, skiing (I think), and other casinos. The staff is friendly. Beyond that, this hotel just seems tired.

The worst part for me was the dry, recycled, stale air with undertones of smoke, even in my room. Just not pleasant. All the finishes and furnishings need updating, too. Though the room was large, it was pretty uncomfortable sleeping in that air each night.

Try someplace else. At least the casino at Harvey's (sister hotel across the street) seemed brighter and newer.

Try Fridays restaurant on the 18th floor though. That was great.
