Most beautiful place and very clean huge hotel. Highly recommended as you can use Harrahs hotel as well. Try the forrest buffet in Harrahs top floor. Fillet steak, good wine and very cheap prices. Atmosphere is very good.
Travelling around Lake Tahoe by car - meeks bay and emerald island are amazing.

10 out of 10.

Room Tip: mountain view over heavenly valley for a real spiritual experience!

I've been to the Casino and Cabo Wabo (see my review on Cabo Wabo) at the bottom of the hotel several times, but this was my first experience staying in Harvey's. It is an old Hotel/Casino and they are in the middle of updating it. We got an updated room on the 5th floor (but next to the elevator...AGAIN!) and we were pleasantly surprised. The bed was a little hard and the pillows were too soft, but I like harder pillows so if you like fluff, then they were pretty nice. The room was very clean and the blankets were nice. Any view you have is great because it's Tahoe. The casino is right across from the Heavenly ski lift so you really can't beat that. You have access to all the shops and restaurants. The tunnel that connects Harveys to Harrrahs is great because you don't have to walk outside to get to the side of the street where the lift and shops are located (a plus when it's cold!). I would have to say though, we didn't have as many amenities as I would of thought since we paid a bit more then say, one of the local lodges. There was no microwave, fridge or coffee maker in the room. Ok, you have to pay a $20 resort fee. This wasn't presented to us until we went to check in. Another thing they don't tell you, is the resort fee is for the spa (which seats 7, kind of small for such a large hotel) in Harrah's, not Harvey's, as well as the gym and pool. The pool is huge and warm, indoors under a pretty transparent dome. The gym was TINY and way too hot. There was no thermostat anywhere! However, the equipment was very well maintained, some free weights, treadmill, etc. and the gym itself was very clean with towels waiting for you. Even though it was small, it did the trick and I liked it, just the basics! If you want to use the sauna or the outdoor pool in Harvey's, that's an ADDITIONAL $10. I don't know why this is the case. We had some problems getting our gym/spa key to work and we had to return to the front desk twice. That was when all this craziness was explained to us, not at check in. Weird but it's alright. Free Covered Parking, valet is available, Starbucks in the hotel which is nice since there wasn't a continental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again just because I am a snowboarder and the distance to the lift can't be beat. I think I got everything. The ladies at the check in were nice enough, but when we had problems with our key, the gentleman talked down to me a little and didn't let me finish explaining the situation which I did not appreciate. Overall an incident free experience and a good nights rest. That was the main goal! (P.S. Don't forget to check out Arty the Party on the stage in front of the nightclub. I think it's in Harrahs but right outside the tunnel. He is a great one-man show).

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator and ask for a room down the hall. The drinking cut off in Nevada (where...

Had a very pleasant experience staying at The Harveys.
The room was very clean and nice and the bathroom was very big and spacious.
We got a lake facing room. The view from our room was spectacular.
Good restaurants inside the hotel and the hotel next to Harveys.
Would definitely return to this hotel in future.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are awesome. Go for higher floors for a better view.

This hotel is a great South Lake Tahoe spot, location is perfect: easy safe walking distance to heavenly and all those shops. Stayed in the Premium King non smoking room on 15th floor. Room was phenomenal. Tastefully upgraded (while still maintaining that classic 80's Tahoe charm), very spacious, clean and with amazing views of both the lake and the mountains with a sitting area. Probably the nicest views I've ever had in a hotel room.

Check in was easy, and the lobby area is nice recently upgraded with a starbucks in the lobby. We ate dinner at the restaurant- 19 kitchen grill and it was also much better than expected. Again, views were amazing on the 19th floor and the steak was great, service was great too. Pricey but well worth it.

The casino itself is a bit underwhelming, outdated with not much action going on. Needs an upgrade. But, Harvey's and Harrahs are owned by the same company and they are connected by an underground walkway. Harrahs has a much nicer casino and great night life. So its really nice that if you want more action at Harrahs you get all that by staying at harvey's and never have to go outside. Super convenient. There is an outdoor pool and spa which was open in February which I didn't used but seemed popular.

Overall, this was a fantastic stay. Room was beautiful with amazing views, location was perfect and having access to the night life and harrahs was a huge plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: lake tower high floor odd number rooms gets great views

We loved our stay here. It was located to everything in town. The hotel was clean. The rooms were beautiful and clean & beds were very comfortable. Our view on the 11th floor (odd #'d rooms have view of lake), was amazing! We had two rooms conjoining and we were all pleased. Would defintely stay there again. We rented our skis and everything from the shop on the floor level and they equipment was wonderful! The ladies who helped us were great as well!! +++++ To all at Harveys!!

If you re expecting a first class resort like you have in Vegas, this is not your place. However, It is a good hotel with a great location. We paid extra for a room with a view and glad we did. The room was large with a large bathroom. The bed was fine. The furniture and carpet really need to be replaced. The furniture is old and really dated. (A red sofa and green chair, I thought it was Christmas.) The huge positive was the view. The view itself was worth the price of the room. We were here mid week in February and got a great rate. So this hotel was a good value for the price we paid. There are a couple of good restaurants in the casino. A buffet is across the street (via a tunnel) at Harrah's. The staff was nice and efficient. I would stay here again if the price is right.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a view a of the lake.

Summary: Good choice in a fantastic location. There are limited choices in South Lake Tahoe of top quality hotels, this is one of only a handful, and in that sense it is a to choice. Convenient to skiing, shopping, food, etc.

Me: I traveled with a friend with our main goal being skiing. Nightlife was a strong secondary consideration. Also it was Superbowl weekend.

Trip to Harveys: We flew into San Francisco which is a four hour drive away. The drive went smoothly although the last hour is on winding mountain roads. I recommend flying into Reno instead to same some time.

Lake Tahoe Area: I need to say that this is an intensly gorgeous area. Pictures don't do it justice and I highly recommend visiting Lake Tahoe at least once in your life!

Parking / Check-in: Self parking is available but we used the valet. This is free although a tip is expected, definitely recommended after a day of skiing rather than lugging gear on the longer walk from the self-park garage. Check in was smooth and we got the room we expected.

Room: Our room was "okay". It was a bit dated and had a slight smokey smell, but fortunately this was not overwhelming. They are in the process of remodeling but no upgraded rooms were available. The room was kept clean. Dogs are allowed but we had no issues, but I like dogs.

Food: There are many choices of food in the hotel. We only tried Hard Rock Cafe which I will write up separately. For breakfast there is a Starbucks in the lobby which was most welcome.

Hotel / Casino Facilities: As with most casinos there was a lingering smokey aspect. At times this was strong and even bothered by eyes. The casino is medium/large and has plenty of slot machines, all the usual table games, and poker. It is connected via a tunnel to Harrah's casino located on the opposite side of the main street. The hotels have a very different feel to them. Harvey's is "country" while Harrah's is "rock and roll". We spent most of our gambling time in Harrah's.

Pool: Harvey's pool is outdoors and after a day skiing we didn't feel like going back into the cold. I didn't see anyone else out there either. Fortunately we could use Harrah's pool which is indoors with the only issue being the walk in swimsuits through both casinos. The only problem with the Harrah's hot tub is its size which is tiny.

Entertainment: Besides gambling there are two main bars and a nightclub between the two hotels. Harvey's has Cabo Wabo which was pretty crowded with a casual nightime atmosphere. Harrah's has an open area bar with a DJ, also a nightclub which we did not visit. We watched the Superbowl at Harrah's open bar area which turned out great for viewing.

Skiing: Heavenly is located on the mountain just behind the hotel and is an easy drive away. You can also take a gondola directly from the hotel area. Heavenly is truly a world-class resort and one of the most beautiful places I've seen. In addition there are many other fantastic ski resorts around Lake Tahoe.

Room Tip: Insist on non-smoking, call the hotel to confirm. They may give away all the non-smoking rooms if y...
