“Extremely adequate!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

Spent one night on Rewards points. Front desk personnel were friendly and the hotel lobby was very nice. It was a relief to not have a smokey casino in the hotel. The room was decent sized and clean. Bed was fairly comfortable. More outlets are needed as we had a lamp in the corner of the room with no place to plug it in to. We used the jacuzzi which was clean and heated perfectly. Would definitely consider staying again if the price was right.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us! We appreciate knowing how we can improve your stay here at the Holiday Inn Reno-Sparks. We are working on adding outlets to the guest rooms with added plug-ins on the microwaves and refrigerators plus lamps with extra outlets. As this property was built before all of our convenient electronic devises to plug in, this has become an issue.

Please come stay with us next time you are in the area and see the improvement.

On a recent stay I discovered that there was no blanket anywhere to be found. Since the heater dries out the air and wakes one up, I prefer simply to sleep with a blanket. The front desk said they'd be up or send someone up with it shortly, although they couldn't leave the desk at the moment. I waited up 40 minutes and then gave up and went to bed, hanging the "do not disturb" sign on the door. It was well after midnight. When I woke up parched a couple of hours later, I checked in front of the door and there was no blanket and no note. The next morning, nobody said a word of apology or anything. When beds come with such flimsy bedding, I don't think it's too much to ask for there to be a blanket in the cabinet or bureau in the room. At the least, one should be brought promptly upon request.

We visited Reno for a volleyball tournament, so we had a teenager, a mom, and a grandmother. We all agreed that the restaurant was topnotch for our purposes -- tasty food at reasonable prices served by terrific staff. We ate one dinner and 3 breakfasts they prepared, The burger our first night there tasted as though it had been grilled outdoors and was cooked to perfection. Definitely not a fast food hamburger. Breakfast was available beginning at 6 am. We brought it up to our rooms, which meant getting it "to go". It was perfection. We tried the scrambled eggs, hash browns, both sausage and bacon, pancakes, orange juice, and fruit. The orange juice was lovely, the eggs yummy, the hashbrowns crispy, and the pancakes fluffy and also tasty. None of that "it needs lots of salt and pepper" so often experienced with a breakfast. We say kudos to the cook and the wait staff for superior performance!!!

If you're a jogger, the surrounding terrain is rather industrial, but there's quite a lot of room to roam. The exercise room is small but has good cardio equipment.

A tip for those getting non-smoking rooms. If your room smells of smoke, contact the front desk. The will quickly tape the offending leakage for you. If you're allergic to cats or dogs, be sure to stay below the animal floor (5th as of our stay). The vent leakage moves upward.

This place is not luxurious, and the newly refurbished decor seems like a throwback to maybe the 60s or 70s, but the staff behaves as though they're working in a highly-rated hotel. That makes it worth a return visit, for sure.

Room Tip: See the review. There are definitely some tricks to getting exactly what you want.

Felt more like a Hilton than a Holiday Inn. They made us feel special. Downstairs Lounge was "quaint", the servers were very attentive and available. The decor was very nice. The amenities were all there, gym, etc. Price was good, you get what you pay for and more. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, even the smoking rooms.

Nice room at a great location. Ate at the restaurant. That was a big mistake.
I understand where I am. (a Holiday Inn rather than a steak house)
Steak was burned, veggies were cold.
Stay there, eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: avoid the restaurant

I had a wonderful experience at this Holiday Inn! First off the front desk staff was excellent! (I didn't get everyone's names, but big thanks to Chuck and Jeremy and the rest of the staff!) Always quick to offer helpful advice and friendly service.

Our room was surprisingly large, and very clean. Fridge and microwave were a nice convenience. Beds and pillows were comfortable and I heard no noise from inside or outside of the hotel. Interaction with housekeeping was minimal, but they were polite and efficient.

The shuttle service from the airport was much appreciated, and for an additional charge they can take you to other destinations (they have a list of places at the front desk). This was great for us, as we did not have a car. All the shuttle drivers were excellent as well.

The hotel was also within walking distance to a Denny's which is great for late nights or early mornings (we did both!). Two women traveling and we felt very safe on the property and the surrounding area.

If I return to the Reno/Sparks area (which I hope I will!) I would be delighted to stay at this property again!
