Just returned from 4 nights at Harrah's Reno. Not the best Harrahs property. Reno itself is a skipper. Found the city to be very seedy. Lake Tahoe is much nicer. Service was not all that great, specifically in the V.I.P. areas. Stayed in west tower, supposed to be the nicer of the two towers, still seemed kind of rundown. Casino isn't anything special, spread out over 2 sides of the street. I would skip this property as well as Reno.

My husband and I stayed at Harrah's the last night of our trip to Lake Tahoe for skiing. The room was in the West Tower but newly renovated and was beautiful. Furnishings and linens were top notch and everything was clean. Everything about the hotel was a great relief since we had spent the first night of our trip at the Peppermill and been completely icked out. The food at Harrah's steak house was fantastic, but don't forget to make a reservation as they seem to be very busy even on a Monday. The Starbucks opened at 5:30 am so we could have coffee before leaving for the airport. For transiting through Reno, a room at Harrah's was a good bet.

I am glad that you enjoyed our world famous Steak House and was able to be served at Starbucks prior to leaving for the airport.

I surprised my girlfriend with a trip to Harrah's Reno, from San Franciso CA, for New Year 05/06. The romantic in me thought this would be a great idea; the gambler in me thought it would be an excellent idea. The sane part of me had obviously lost its voice.

After the 10 hour drive from SF, coz of snow and mudslides, the last thing we needed is for our reservation to have "disappeared" from the system, which it had - despite booking with Harrah's over the phone a week prior.

The friendly girl on the check-in desk quickly fixed this and comp'd us an upgrade to a "superior" room: paper thin walls and a 19" TV (yes, you read that right). I could barely see it from the bed, which was very uncomfortable.

The hotel is average, the food was average (as always, avoid the buffet: it was horrible) and the casino itself was, well, average.

To be honest, the whole experience felt like a trip back to 1985.

The hotel was not bad, per se; you don't go to Reno looking to live in luxury. It just wasn't that good.

If Reno is one of those places you would like to see, or you feel like you have to see it, this hotel is a great place to stay for a couple of nights. I wouldn't want to be there any longer - nor Reno, for that matter.

Pro's: it has a Starbucks in it, there's a 24 hour restaurant, great (free) Valet parking, friendly staff (I didn't have one bad experience - the staff at all levels were great).

Con's: needs modernising, slots are showing signs of age, on a busy night it was taking about 5 mins for each spin of the Roulette wheel as it seemed they were under-staffed.

If you enjoy a bet every so often: the Video Poker machines in the West Tower's bar payout at an incredible rate. I hit a 160x stake payout twice in a row, followed later by a 400x stake payout, in the period of 20 minutes. My girlfriend did well too!

We stayed overnight here after an anniversary dinner in their steakhouse. The food and service in the steakhouse was great, prices on a par with most other steakhouses. Our room, on the tenth floor, was very quiet and had been newly redone. The bathroom is large, the room (in the west tower) about average size. Most of the restaurants and the larger casino area seem to be in the west tower, and after reading previous reviews that seemed the better tower to stay in. The west tower was $10.00 more but closer to check-in and restaurants etc. We only heard one train, but the trains have been put below ground now so that probably cut back on their noise. We would stay there again. Check-in and valet were quick and easy (also check-out on the tv.)

Hotel was okay room was pretty nice we stayed in the east tower and a bit on the small side. We were travelling with an infant and the staff could not have been any nicer, got a crib to our room before we had a chance to close the door. Valets were great very obliging since we kept leaving stuff in the car which would have driven me mad but they smiled and helped us retrieve what we needed.

Overall room okay
Service Excellent
Restaurants okay
