“Pleasantly Surprised W/ Room”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

I've been to Reno several times in the past few years on business and for pleasure, I usually prefer the Silver Legacy or El Dorado which are both connected to Circus Circus. A last minute family spring break detour took us through Reno. The usual hotels were all booked and Circus Circus had available rooms so we booked one while on the road.

The price was very fair for a one night stay on a Saturday. I was expecting the worse but hoping for the best. After we left the check-in counter we were sent into a maze to the hotel tower which included navigating stairs with our luggage. When we got to elevator there was line of approx. 40-people waiting for one of the six elevators. I asked the guy in front of me if there was a problem with the elevators and he said "no" just a lot people waiting for slow elevators.

When we arrived at the room I was pleasantly surprised for the $100 we paid for the room. I could tell the hotel had done some updates but it really was lip stick on a pig at this point, considering this is the same hotel my parents stayed at in the 1970's. The room was clean, it didnt smell, and the tv worked well. I've stayed at hotels for a lot more money and couldn't say those words.

The Midway is a money hole but the kids like the games and they usually can win a good sized stuff animal for $20.

We ate at the American Cafe for breakfast and it was pretty standard food but the service was good.

I would stay at Circus Circus again if the situation like the one we found ourselves in came up but if I had time on my side I would spend the extra cash and stay at the Silver Legacy or El Dorado.

We enjoyed our stay at Circus Circus Reno. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. We got a great rate even with the resort fees which I believe you will get no matter where you stay in Reno. The mid way was so so. The workers seemed bored and the circus act was maybe 5 minutes. This all could be because we were there mid week but even my kids commented on this. Check in was slow despite the short line. We ate at the Mexican place and had a good meal with a friendly server.

Thank you so much for the review. I will speak to the Midway, in no way do we want our guests to feel cheated from a great circus experience. We hope you return soon!

We were able to get a nice room without reservations. We ate twice at their coffee shop type cafe. The service was just OK. The wait people did their bare minimum with us. Saw a couple of rude conformations between the staff. The midway is a fun place for older school age kids.Right below is the casino. So if you want ,parents can take turns playing in casino and playing the games with kids. The rooms were clean. But hallways outside your rooms are always active no matter what time it is! Check out was a bit of a pain due to having to wait to check out at front desk. But one thing I thought was surprising was the hotel did allow pets.

We got a deal on this Hotel for $25 but with taxes and Resort Fee it came to $34 - still a deal!
A Resort Fee ($7 here) is nothing more than a way to increase the rate without showing it on the site you are using - IT'S THAT SIMPLE! (kinda like cruises that show a price of $499 but the taxes (usually $250) Port charges (another $200) and Service Charge (mandatory $12/day) make a 7 day cruise cost $1084.

Rooms were clean, very large and comfortable.
Furniture was in good shape and the beds were good - not great.

They still don't have a way to transit from parking to your room easily - the overpass to the hotel does not go to a floor that has an elevator for the rooms so one has to go across the overpass, go down 1 or 2 floors then transit the casino to the elevator.

We live 60 miles from Reno and usually go to one of the better Hotels our favorites are (in order of preference are El Dorado, John Asquagas Nugget, Harrahs, then Circus Circus and Grand Sierra Resort. Usually end up with one of these which ever has the best deal.

We never go the the Sands - at any price! Go at your own risk. No security for your car - rooms badly in need of redo and clientele sucks.

Room Tip: Get a room in the west tower

This place is old outdated needs a total face lift. Only reason stayed here was for a concert and the other hotels were booked. rooms are old and plain. the room was clean but just didn't have that clean feeling to it. probably wont stay here again if I can help it. front desk staff was friendly . unless u get a great deal or don't have much money in general better places to stay than here.

On short notice we got a room here for $35 ! heck of a deal for money. It isn't glamorous but it was a large, decent room and definitely worth the money. We were on a road trip and this was just a stop obver.
