“Great hotel and amenities. Reasonable location.”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights for a guys weekend.

The good.
- Hotel has everything including a bowling alley, driving range and casino.
- The Summit rooms were nice. A four star experience with a nice marble bathroom.
- The staff was super nice and VERY fast.
- When you check in you get a decent number of coupons for discounts at the hotel places.

The okay.
- The restaurants in the hotel are "okay". Nothing to write home about.

The bad.
- When in Nevada - the casino is smokey.
- The hotel is far from the other Reno places which means you are stuck at the Grand Sierra for everything unless you want to taxi or drive. If you come here don't plan so much on leaving if you want to drink.
- Breakfast buffet opens at 7am. Not conducive for leaving early to hit the slopes..

Excellent value. Good free WiFi. Flat screen TV with 50-60 channels. Large room with comfortable beds. No mini fridge or microwave. Hotel was well maintained.

Parking is the only downside. No matter where you park, it's a long walk to the room. They do have valet parking if you want to wait for your car.

Easy to find..near major freeway.

We booked this hotel online. For the price we paid, we had an excellent room. Happy hour specials at Charlie Palmer's and the dinner special at the Italian restaurant were great. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Huge hotel. Most of the rooms are newly remodeled.

Hadn't been to Reno in many years so we did a getaway weekend trip. Stayed in the Summit Tower where the rooms are nicely remodeled. The resort was busy and the mood festive. Watched a comedy show in the Grand Theater after dining in the Cantina and then finished the night with free drinks at the slot machines. Took a drive downtown the next day followed by a quick trip to the Incline Village viewpoint to look at Lake Tahoe. My only complaint is the wet bar in the suite had only two small water glasses. Could have used chimney and wine glasses plus openers. We managed though!

Everything about my stay at the Grand SIerra resort was above expectations. My arrival was after midnight due to airplane complications. The valet staff and the desk staff were welcoming and more than helpful. Speedily unloaded the car and got through checkin very quickly. I did get to go back down for a bit of slot play and the wait staff were right there to get whatever beverage you needed quickly.

The room was a suite in the Summit Tower. It was very clean and very large. All of the amenities were first class. The bedding was comfortable and there were many choices for lighting from the large room lamps to the personal reading lights on each side of the king bed..

The couch was firm and comfortable with no worn or sunken spots. The TV was a large screen with a beautiful HD picture. The is a great view of the mountain peaks. The linens and towels were good quality as were the bathroom amenities.

Every other aspect of the stay was great from the staff to the restaurants. The price here was far better than downtown for superior accomodations. I would recomment this place to anyone and gladly stay here again.

Room Tip: The Summit rooms are worth the little extra money.

I heard this placed used to be a dump but has gone through some major renovations. I was there for a convention and all was good and staff was very friendly. Rooms were nice and clean. Only complaint and not Grand Sierra's fault, is that the casino is very smokey. Man I hate that! Put out the cigarettes people.

I stayed there both before and after Burning Man, and especially after it was a fantastic experience. The party from the playa continues at this hotel for a few days, as it is packed with burners.

The rooms are okay, but it is easy to see that what used to be a high end hotel is now not as highend. On the other hand the price are not high end either, and the hotel offers great value.
