Hot August Nights is an annual must see event in Reno. Starting with the shuttle from the airport we know we were in for a treat. The thing that made it special was staying at the Grand Sierra Resort. The facility was beyond expectations. Even though the hot rod show was the reason for being there, it was all the additional things available on the property that is why we WILL be back. Starting with the staff, the service was fantastic. We experienced the culinary delights -the all-you can eat Sushi at the Rim and the streak's at Charlie Palmer's . It was an epicurean experience with the finest quality, presentation, and service (definitely 5-star at both places). We were in awe with the performance of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Leisure hours were spent at the beach (yes a sand beach around the pool) and wandering through the shops, virtual golf course, and bowling ally (50 lanes). The one thing we did miss was the $3 first run movies at the theater. For the rooms, we recommend booking rooms in the Summit - it is worth the extra. If you get bored at the Grand Sierra, it would be because you probably didn't leave your room. Writing this much about the Grand Sierra is easy when the quality is excellent .

Room Tip: REquest the Summit

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week for the Oldsmobile Nationals. We experienced no problems there. We stayed in a typical room, not the Summit. The room we stayed actually looked better than their website photo. It was nice, clean, and there were many resreraunts there to eat at. The food was good, service in general was good. The casino people are a friendly bunch, we are used to Foxwoods and Mohegan, where they are not particularily friendly. I would recommend this hotel for a getaway...everything you could want is there! A friend had a Summit room, which may be well worth the extra cost.

This property, aptly named, "resort' has just about any and everything on the premises one would need or want without leaving the premises: restaurants, golfing range, bars, movie theater, bowling alley, shops, spa, huge game arcade, fitness center, and a cool swimming pool surrounded by sand! The room service food we ordered was delivered in a timely manor. Our room at 'The Summit" was spectacular. Very cozy and modern at the same time. Oh, and there is a rather large casino there as well!

Room Tip: Spring for the rooms in the Summit.

While visiting family in Rocklin, CA we wanted to visit Reno where we were married 27+ years ago. We chose to stay at the GSR because of many recommendations to do so. We were traveling with our little dog and he was welcome and treated like royalty. He had his own dish, bed, bowl, snacks, etc. Our suite was huge. We had a very large flat screen TV that swiveled to accommodate viewing from either the sitting area or the bed. The leather couches were so comfortable we could of slept on them. Our bed was even more comfortable. The mini bar was fully stocked and there was even a TV in the bathroom!! The GSR thought of everything!

We had room service for dinner and the menu was outstanding although very expensive. Our food arrived quickly and very hot. The liquor on the menu was completely reasonable and not over priced.

The next time we visit Reno we will stay at the GSR again. Make sure you check out the deli on the first floor across from the casino. It was as good as any New York deli I've ever been to. Fresh and very good.

The only inconvenience was check out. It took forever.

Got a killer deal on this room off priceline. Parking & internet is free ( Resort fee is ~$11). room is outdated, but for price was what I was expecting. Would stay here again. of note, our delta flight crew also stayed here on their layover (free airport shuttle). Bed was not the most comfortable, but was decent (for price). In the bathroom, there is a price list of my things one might take from the room - with a disclaimer that you would be charged, if certain items were missing from room.

Front desk was very accommodating (even at 11pm)

We have stayed at another property in Reno for the past six years. We tried the Grand Sierra and found the hotel to be more family friendly than the other one. Also, there was a nice assortment of restaurants. However, for the adulta, the Casino was absolutely horrible, so much in fact that it likely far outweighs the advantages of the other positives.

Room Tip: Higher floor facing away from the Reno Flight Line
