I have stayed at the the GSR a few times and each time I said I probably wouldn't go back. Well this last time my sister wanted to go and take her son and the rates were cheap so I agreed to go with. Now normally I would not consider a casino a family attraction, but this casino is different. It truely is a resort, not a top notch resort though. The rooms are decent but if you get a suite I think they are a lot nicer, however they are a lot pricier. The reason I say this place is good for families is because they have the arcade, the amusement park type attractions, the aqua golf, movie theatre, jungle gym thing, bowling alley, shopping downstairs, a nice gym, a full service salon, and an outdoor pool that has a sand area so it looks like a beach. I think they even have pet rooms, so there is pretty much something for every family member. Then there is the casino. Which in my opinion is all glitz but has no real appeal. It seems really small and I just don't really like gambling there. Call me old fashion but I actually prefer the small time casinos downtown such as the Cal Neva or the Circus Circus. The people just seem more down to earth and I like that better. So if you are going to Reno and want a damn cheap room sign up for GSR's email alerts and they pretty much give the rooms away. And with all of the activities that there are to do I think you can make a decent trip out of a not so fabulous destination. Oh and the beds are really comfy at GSR....
