It is an older property, But has everything you need to enjoy your stay except in room coffee!!!Starbucks is on property or room service will bring coffee to your room. The carpeting is aged but who cares. Had a great time gambling and dining. Didn't know when we stayed but they are pet friendly and next time I'll take my best friend♥ my dog!

Room Tip: Enjoy your stay

I liked that you can check in a get your room as early as 11:00 am
The steak house and the fish house are excellent restaurants - great food and service
The wine bar is really fun
smoking is allowed in the casino - I could smell smoke in the restaurant.
The room was really comfortable - I like the availablilty of a refrigerator and microwave.
we didn't use room service, the spa or the pool. I might have used the pool the day before the meetings started but it was too windy. The pool and spa look good

We recently spent seven days in this property and can recommend it for couples and families. There is a lot to do in the building for kids and adults. Bowling alley, movies, arcade, swimming pool, restaurants, etc. Plus gaming of course.

The rooms are spacious and kept clean by a good housekeeping staff.

A "resort fee" of $10.00 per day plus tax for a total of $11.30 per day is kind of irritating. This isn't the only place that we have had this charge but it is just an add cost to your stay. It covers bottled water in your room, internet access, parking, etc. These are all charged at other hotels as separate billings so it all washes out.

The building is huge and and the parking lot is vast. Valet parking is free (tip expected) but is backed up on busy times.

We got a good price booking through Priceline.

Shuttle from airport is available.

Despite all the complaints on here I had a lovely, very clean and newly decorated room. The hotel and amenities are quite old and in need of a recent revamp but for the money I paid it did the trick. This hotel is not as lush at the Las Vegas style hotels but is well situated for the airport and great for a base from which you enjoy the rest of the area

This is a BIG hotel, located just off the freeway that goes to the airport. Consequently, it's not walking distance to downtown or the other casinos, however that may not be a big deal, as the Sierra has a large, clean casino and several high-end restaurants. There is no real bargain food here - $7 prime rib and that sort of thing - you would have to go into Reno for that. The room was great - large, comfortable, great view, for $49 per night , which comes out to $66 after fees and taxes - still a remarkable bargain in this day and age. Downtown hotel-casinos that charge the same or more tend to be worn-looking and often smell smokey. Sierra is highly recommended if you have a car or need to be near the airport.

Room Tip: Get a room with a north view.

Kind of underwhelming! I expected a lot more from the pics on the internet and the description of the property. Room was old but mostly clean. Old TV without many cable stations, especially the ones listed on the guide??? Parking area is not convienent to the hotel entrance, leaving you with a long walk. Pool area is nice and I appreciated the hottub which was very nice. The $11.30 per day resort fee is a total ripoff. You get nothing that other hotels don't provide in the rate they advertise. It is up to them if they want to play that game, but it leaves me thinking the casino games may not be fair either. Still, once I went downtown and saw those places, I had a better feeling about this place. Good a good price so I feel it was worth it.

Thank you for your input regarding your recent stay. We are in the process of finalizing our lower floor renovation and hope to begin by first quarter of 2012. We currently have newly renovated Summit floors that come with a butler pantry and 42" flat screen television, with floor to ceiling marble in the bathroom. Of course, there is a slightly higher room rate associated with our Summit rooms but we feel the price is well worth the experience. We hope Grand Sierra Resort is your choice the next time your travel plans include Reno.

This was a quick overnight pleasure trip to see a concert at the Resort. My service is every aspect of the establishment was more than anyone could have asked for. The hotel and casino including its grounds were clean and well kept. Our room was a double Queen in the Grand Summit sections and was only $81.00. This included two breakfasts brought by room service as one options selected and also a bucket of six beers.
The room was one of the largest rooms I have stayed in for "just a room" rather than a suite and I have stayed at many of the top hotels in the US. Although I am not a black and marble person it far exceeded anything I expected. The TV was a 45 inch flat screen, there was a new high end mini fridge (not your basic hotel mini fridge), and full size microwave and a new coffee maker in the room. The beds were comfy with extra pillows and there were extra blankets in the cupboards.
Service was PERFECT. Our clock/Ipod dock was not working and it was taken care of immediately. We had room service deliver our free beer, dessert and breakfast and each server was friendly and welcoming.
From the desk clerks to the security people everyone was friendly and kind. I could not believe how nice this stay was!
