In the past 10 or 12 years Reno has really improved it's restaurant choices and the Cafe de Thai is certainly a good example of this trend. The menu has something for everyone and our choices were. Crispy corn fritters which were unusual and exceptional as was the shrimp Paanang, the vegetable spring roll, the mushroom dumplings and the boneless short ribs which were on the daily specials. The service was good but they have a tendency to bring everything at once so it's best to tell the service staff to not do so. The deserts are incredible but not really Thai. The restaurant itself is very open with a good bar and a very interesting waterfall separating the bar and the food service area. The decor is contemporary minimal but light and airy. The bill was moderately higher than other Thai restaurants but well worth it.

We moved from Laguna Beach to Reno 2 years ago and this is our favorite restaurant.

Our favorite is to order from the daily specials, they are always spectacular. Of course everything is great, but the specials are special.

Food has always been perfect, reasonably priced, modern atmosphere, great drinks, nice staff

Enjoy, its the best

Excellent, creative, artistically presented, utterly delicious food. BUT, It's a little pricey, and I think they could/should "throw in" rice with some of the entrees, especially since the portions are not huge. (The much more affordable, and also great, Bangkok restaurant is always jammed (on a recent Thursday we had to wait 20 minutes for a table...at 8:30pm) whereas when we visited Cafe de Thai only 3 other tables were occupied the whole 70+ minutes we were there.)
The minimalist, Zen-type decor is a bit sparse for my taste, but I appreciate the quiet. Waiter was very knowledgeable, patient and accommodating, as my husband - as he often does - asked or something not exactly on the menu.

Average Thai food with above average prices. The interior is very modern and cool, more interesting than the food.

Wow, my tummy rumbles everytime I think of this restaurant. Very creative spring rolls, lettuce wraps, curry, you name it. Lots to choose from and they understand gluten free.
