The Thai Nakorn III just opened under new management earlier in 2012. My wife and I had made it a habit to eat at least one night at the previous Thai establishment at the site when we were in Reno.
When we went to our familiar haunt in late June, we saw the name had changed and asked the host about it. She said that the restaurant had been acquired from its previous owner, and joined ownership with two other Thai Nakorn restaurants in Truckee and South Shore Lake Tahoe.
As the previous restaurant was very good, we were concerned that the food quality might have gone down with the new ownership? No need for concern -- our collective opinion was that the food had improved. Perhaps greatly.
We are good judges of Thai food - having eaten it religiously for several decades here in the Bay Area - across the U.S. - and in several European countries. We have our favorites, and Thai Nakorn III matches the best of them!
Our dinner consisted of a Chicken Sate appetizer, followed by a main course of Musaman Beef, Green Curry Chicken, and a very special and excellent Thai Nakorn Chicken Lotus. Accompanying this was an order of Chicken Fried Rice. As we usually do, we ordered more than we could eat, and thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers the next day back at home. A wise decision!
Both sizes of Singha beer are available. We were very pleased that our larger beers were chilled to perfection - Singha needs to be cold.
The menu at Thai Nakorn III is very large, see it on-line at:
I'd recommend this restaurant without hesitation for any lover of Thai food.
