$10 each and we were told AFTER we paid that the main exhibit was not yet open - the neon of Reno which would have been very interesting.

“Great exhibits...go see for yourself!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

We walked over to the museum from the river walk area and absolutely loved our time there. The building is incredible and the staff was very personable and helpful. Here were the current highlights:
Arthur and Lucia Matthews paintings and artwork
Edward Burtynsky's "OIL" photo exhibit portrayed the ins and outs of the oil industry and America's dependence on it.
Gregory Euclide's "Nature Out There" exhibit had wonderful sculptural works of trees and rivers- such pretty scenes.
The collection of southwest pottery was incredible too.
An exhibit on Antartica, music, and global warming was also interesting.

“Current Show is awesome, Beautiful venue.”

Just a couple of blocks from the Truckee Riverwalk. Starkly modern with nice outdoor sculpture and fountain in Victorian area. Photographic exhibit of man's use/misuse of oil is very large scale and very well presented, lit and curated. Friendly staff and nice gift shop. Apparently also available for weddings, as they were setting up for one. My spouse and I are art fans and the only similar one is SAM in Seattle.

This is rated as one of the best small museums in the country. They have docent led tours on Weekends, good lunches at the cafe, and if you join you get invited to 12 free parties a year known as First Thursdays, which features bands, entertainment, and snacks. A great place to meet people who have some culture.

“Great Art Museum in Reno”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

We spent about 3 hours at this wonderful museum. 3 floors of great exhibits. Excellent display of southwestern Native American pottery. Some sculpture on the roof, as well as a great view of Reno. Also some nice outdoor sculpture in front of the museum. The building itself is a work of art. Staff very friendly and helpful.
