The Basque Library is the largest in the USA & is located in the fine University Library. The Rock/Mineral Museum is amazing!!
The campus is huge and truly fun to stroll around.

“Checking out Colleges”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

I was really impressed with UNR-- great looking school. Spacious, nice facilities, big school spirit. All the kids we met were really happy and appreciative of their university. If not into rah-rah the kids said there is a big contingent of outdoors men/women who take advantage of the nearby mountains for skiing/boarding/hiking.

First, even if you're not of Basque heritage, visit the Center for Basque Studies at UNR. This is a world class program in Basque related studies.

The main campus library is worth a visit as it shows how welcoming UNR can be. Just about everywhere you go students and faculty are welcoming and helpful - range science, music, food services, etc.

Oh, yes there's a great college football program - among other sports - to watch...

“Pretensions of greatness”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

UNR is mainly known for its sports teams. Other than their mining and engineering schools, it is a second-rate state university. The medical school is one of the split varieties, where the first two years of classroom studies are in Reno and the last two years are in Las Vegas, where the population is. Has a long way to go to compete with Stanford or Berkeley.
