“Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Stepped in without any expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Food was good, especially the broccoli rabe quiche. Ingredients, I believe, are organic, and it seemed as though their meat was from local Nevada farms. I would go back!

“Great Brunch!”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

Ate brunch here a few months back - was incredibly impressed! The wait staff was very attentive, the decor was nice (a little quirky, but still somewhat homey). The dounuts as a warm up to the main crouse was a nice touch. I had a pork-eggs-biscuit meal - every bit was divine! Since we were kidless had a few cocktails, and they were very smooth with the right amount of kick (think it weas the pear one I had). Overall a nice place...we will definately be back for dinner!

“huckleberry heaven breakfast”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

The buckwheat huckle berry pancakes are heavenly. Four regular size pancakes (not the size of dinner plates). The pancakes have huckle berries in them, but are also served with a ramekin of extra berries! Syrup and a generous portion of whipped cream. I ordered a side of bacon for $3--it was 5 slices! Rich and meaty. The coffee is served in a french press.
Other person had house-made red flannel hash. Made with beets instead of potatoes. Interesting. Not sweet as I feared. Wish it had more meat in it.
NOTE--main entrance on Sierra Street has steps. Entrance on Ridge Street is handicap accessible.

“Well worth the visit and the staff is OK, too!”
Reviewed May 25, 2012

We reluctantly decided to have dinner at the Old Granite Street Eatery before attending a concert because 1) it was close to the concert venue and 2) it appeared to be the only place nearby where we could have a dinner that was not loaded with fat or salt and had lots of fresh ingredients. We expected the staff to be offputing as described by other reviewers. We did not have a reservation and arrived at 6 PM. There were no tables available but they gave us a choice of sitting at the community table or the bar. We chose the community table which is a very European concept and had enjoyed it on our previous trips to Europe. We had pleasant conversations with two different parties at our table.

One entree we ordered was the flank steak and strawberry salad (a la carte order.) The salad was delicious and other people at the community table order it, too, after seeing it. They also all liked it. The steak was perfectly cooked medium as ordered and came with some mushrooms and sunchokes which were also very tasty. The other entree we ordered was the veggie burger and chose the side salad option. I also order the grilled asparus as a side order. The roll was house made as was the veggie burger which were delicious. I am rather picky and I ordered the asparagus with no salt and the salad very light on the dressing. Both were perfectly done. The asparagus was half green and half white with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Just based on the food, we would definitely return.

As for the staff, the waiter was attentive, pleasant, and obviously trying to be unobtrusive while we conversed with other guests and each other. He was not in the least bit phased as I grilled him about how the various dishes were prepared and if it was possible to have something made with no salt, sauce on the side, etc. He made sure my ice tea was filled regularly without being asked and would find a pause in the conversation to ask my hubbie if he would like another beer. He was a perfect waiter. So, go ahead, give them a try.
