“Innovative, fresh and fun!”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

After hearing some mixed reviews of this restaurant, my husband and I were reluctant to take a chance on this place for a birthday celebration dinner. However, we were delightfully pleased with our decision to dine here. From the greeting you get at the door ("Helloooo" from the sushi chefs behind the counter) to the exquisitely prepared sushi (sit at the bar, for sure) and the efficient yet friendly bussing of numerous sushi plates (immediately yet discretely whisked away), we were totally satisfied with our experience. This just became our fave for sushi in Reno. Will definitely return.

“Best AYCE sushi place in Reno”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

The fish is very fresh, includes a choice of appetizers and a dessert. M-Th includes a free sake. The pieces are small, so are actually bite size, meaning that you can sample many types of sushi. The sauce on the eels is a bit too sweet and cloying- it would be better if they went lighter on the amount squirted on top. The orders sometimes get confused with other tables and can take a while to come out. The salmon eggs are obviously frozen and a bit gummy, but the fish is excellent and the rolls are well prepared.

“Always a Treat”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Whenever I fly into Reno, and it is close to dinner time I make it a point to go and take advantage of their friendly atmosphere and outstanding service. And the food is not half bad. They have excellent hot foods if you are not a sushi lover.
The product is fresh and the assortment deep. The best part is that the chefs will gladly create tasty bits not on the menu for those willing to try new taste. The miso soup is good way to start and their desserts fun. It is off the beaten path in a residential area. Always busy, always friendly, always good.

“Too noisy for older folks!”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

Have been here several times with our 20-something kids and their friends. Yesterday was my final visit, I'm afraid. It was a Saturday AYCE sushi lunch. The waitstaff is friendly, food was ok, but the place was crowded, noisy, hot. Sushi chefs shouting HELLO to every patron who enters is distracting when you're trying to converse. (We were 4 women -- two older, two younger.)

Worst though was the rudeness of fellow customers. A dad at the table next to us (RIGHT next to us) was tickling and playing with his young son as if they were at home in their own family room -- loud and totally unaware of others. Another couple entertained their youngster with some noisy gameboy or iphone game. Don't people realize a restaurant is a PUBLIC place? Manners are appropriate, even for a busy, crowded place such as Hiroba's.

The food isn't good enough to make up for the noise and closeness of the tables. I will NOT be back.

One of my favorite reasons for visiting Reno is for the large variety of all you can eat sushi restaraunts. This one is fairly new and well advised. They have a huge selection of rolls and even includes appetizers and deaert
