“A very nice suites-type hotel on the edge of Reno”
Reviewed January 2, 2012

Based on TA reviews, I and my three teenagers stayed here for New Year's Eve. The hotel is located on the southern edge of Reno, all by itself in what seemed to be a light industrial area. The hotel is very new and easy to find, right off of Hwy 395, but note that highway noise was not a problem at all. I liked the fact that the hotel was off the beaten track (ie, not next to the airport, downtown casinos, or Virgina Street). It only took us about 3 minutes to get to the Atlantis and 10 minutes to get to downtown. It's located close to the Meadowood Mall and really close to a great Thai restaurant at the corner of Neil and Virginia (Thai Lotus).

We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a king-sized bed. As others have noted, the suite had a complete kitchen - they even included complimentary microwave popcorn! We liked the fact that there was a door separating the living area from the bedroom - the bathroom was located in the bedroom rather than in the common area, which made privacy a bit of an issue.

The hotel itself feels very new - well furnished and carpeted. The breakfast room was large, with about 10-12 tables. The complimentary breakfast was typical of these types of hotels (waffles, eggs, sausage, home fries, juices, fruit, etc.). What seems to be unique about this place is the light meals they serve M-Th in the late afternoons - things like puled pork sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, and lasagna.

The hotel has a pretty big indoor pool with a spa next to it - my kids tried and liked both of these alot. It also has a small fitness center with 3-4 machines and free weights, an outside basketball court, a small (2 computer) business center, and a self-service laundry with 8-10 washers and dryers.

All of the staff we encountered were uniformly friendly and professional. There are two things keeping me from giving this place 5 stars. First, our wireless access was slow, perhaps because we were located in a room (226) far from the lobby - my kids sat in the lobby to access the internet on their iPhones and Kindles. Second, being on the second floor, there was more footstep, conversation, and plumbing noises from the people upstairs than I would have liked. But other than that we were very happy with our experience and would not hesitate to return if we wanted a suites-type experience away from the downtown casinos.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the top floor near the lobby

This is probably the best hotel I've stayed at. Went to Reno on buisness, checkin was smooth, the room was the nicest part. Was the spacious room. Had a nice sized kitchen, full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, even plates and glassware. I've stayed at some top notch Disney resorts like the dolphin and swan hotels for double the price that don't have this to offer. The breakfast was great, warm, wide variety of delicious foods to start my busy day. I will definitely be staying here again.

Recently stayed here during a convention. Chose this hotel rather than staying at the casinos.

This is a kudos for the Homewood Suites in Reno if you are traveling with your pet. Those of you who travel with your beloved 4 legged companions will appreciate this property. There is a wonderful park across the street from this hotel, and extensive walking and riding trails to enjoy for your you, and your dog. The hotel is located in a quiet business park area, in the exclusive Holcomb Ranch area of Reno, and if you don't look hard enough, you will miss the beautiful common area right across the road.

The breakfast the morning we were there, was just mediocre. There were egg burritos, that were very dry, hash browns, that were dry, and only one waffle maker in which there was a line forming. There was plenty of coffee, and three different juices. The breakfast room is very nice, bright, and clean.

Ask for a room with a view of the Sierras. The rooms are all suites, and very clean. We had a room with a living room and separate bedroom area, with full kitchen. It was beautiful, and felt very comfortable.

Room Tip: Some rooms offer beautiful views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. They are all clean, we...

Homewood is Hilton's answer to Marriott's Residence Inn and the comparison holds up well with this location. In fact, I'd say this is nicer and newer than most Res. Inn's I've stayed at. The suite was good-sized (exactly the same layout and square footage as Hampton Suites I've stayed in recently). Front desk people weren't particularly friendly, but they were competent. My only (slight) dissatisfaction is that they closed down Sunday morning breakfast at 10 a.m. (I showed up at 10:15 - oops!). New, clean, good value... and I like being away from the casinos and downtown "grunge" of Reno.

This was a super choice. It was conveniently located for our purposes in a nice, quiet, park-like area. The complimentary breakfast and light dinner always make it easy when you're traveling. The room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. We were able to relax and enjoyed our stay. We'll be back.

This hotel as has been said is clean and off the beaten path, but only about 8 minutes to RNO, which is convenient. The rooms are clean and well laid out and there are great views of the mountain ranges. The breakfast and dinner are both complimentary and you get what you pay for. If you're traveling on a budget, the food is fine, but you'll probably want to avail yourself of some of the neighborhood restaurants if you have a chance.

I didn't get to try the pool or fitness center, but I did ask for a running route from the front desk and they gave me a terrific trail to run about 2 minutes from the hotel, and that was much cooler than an eliptical. There is no shuttle service, but even better is a complimentary cab service that will drive you to the airport.

My one peeve is the business center computer which runs the UniGuest system, which is a service the hotel pays for to keep the computer free of any viruses and porn. However, it resets every 4 minutes I think and it's not very fast, so it kicked me out as I was about to print my boarding pass and that was super annoying.

Overall, if I ever come back to Reno, which I'm hoping I don't, I would surely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor.
