“Great food & pleasant staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2004

We stayed in an Imperial Suite. It was a little on the worn side but very comfortable. It was very clean with the exception of the dust on the fake plants that hang from the ceiling, they are very fond of hanging fake plants. The bed was turned down every night by the maids and they left the ice bucket full & chocolates. One night we happened to be in the room when they came by and they gave us a liter bottle of milk on ice and a plate of cookies, nice touch. The food is wonderful but certainly not cheap. Try to be there on Sunday, they give you tickets based upon your amount of play and then put them in a drum and draw 10 out at 1p.m., 3p.m. and 5p.m. If you name is drawn then you spin a wheel, minimum $100 maximum is $10,000. If the person drawn is not present then they draw another name. Lots of fun.

I've been to the Peppermill twice and I love it. It was very clean and the food is soooo good. Its a few miles from the strip.. a VERY easy drive. Or walk!...youll need the exercise after gambling all day. I went to every Casino in Reno and i would say that the peppermills was the best, with the Hilton as a runner up. I recommend staying here! I cant wait to go again....(side note)--> Im sick of people complaining about being bumped..regardless of where you go on vacation, you need to call the hotel directly, and not just through an internet site.

We had a two night stay, October 4th and 5th. We really liked this hotel. Had never stayed here before. Room was very clean and was decorated a little on the "Elvis" side, but quite nice. Both room and bathroom were spacious. Our gambling dollars went a long way in the casino. We played for hours. In fact we enjoyed the place so much, we never went outside from the time we checked in until check out time, except to go to the pool and hot tub. We were tired from a couple days of driving around Yosemite and just enjoyed being in the hotel and casino. Ate at the buffet for a dinner and a lunch. It was good. Ate at the food court once, food was ok, but it was shorthanded, and the poor guy working at the Chinese part needed some help. Too much work for one person. We thought the hotel was generous with comps at check out time. Will visit this hotel/casino again when our travels take us to Reno.

The service and the gaming was excellent. The food at the Oceana (seafood) was the best. The room we stayed in was clean and very comfortable.Minor complaint would be the lights, they are everywhere, glitzty 70s.

My friends and I went to Reno for a week in March 2004 and we stayed at the Peppermill. It was a wonderful hotel. We really enjoyed the rooms-the beds were big, the bathroom was very spacious, and we loved the mirrors in the room! The staff was very friendly and the resturants were very affordable but still delicious.

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Peppermill in Reno. We had a really good time. The food was very good. Great deals in the coffee shop on early a.m. dining. Steak, eggs, hash browns and toast for $5.99! What a deal. The room service was very fast (but pricey) and the food was hot and very good. I would also recommend the breakfast buffet and the food court. You can eat pretty reasonably at the Peppermill if you avoid the Island Buffet for dinner which is very pricey, over $20.00. The food court is a little hard to find but you can get a prime rib dinner there for like $8. A great value.

The only complaint I really have is that the pools are looking dirty and need cleaning.

The room was great, the maids didn't make a lot of noise and I would recommend staying on the 10th floor which was quiet and non-smoking.

Staying at the Peppermill was reminiscent of a trip to Disneyland. It was a dazzling but cheap spectacle, and while I had a great admiration for how it was designed and run, I found it hard to get into the mindset of my fellow guests.

My girlfriend and I wanted to stay in a flashy, over-the-top location immediately after Burning Man, and I guess we got what we asked for. Our room was glitzy, if not stylish, with a huge Jacuzzi, two televisions, and a sizable bathroom. In New York prices, it was a downright steal. Even the mini-bar (which was completely automated) had reasonable prices. Our room was clean and had nice furnishings, although the smell of air freshener was always noticeable when we walked in.

We were a little disappointed with the rest of the Peppermill. The pool was overflowing with people (granted, it was Labor Day weekend) and the buffet was hardly noteworthy, despite the half-hearted "rainforest" theme they had going. There was also a long wait to get a place at one of the two craps tables they had opened. That said, it was obvious the place was expertly managed, and nothing looked at all out of place or neglected. The staff was helpful and friendly throughout.

If you're like me, and don't really feel at home in a casino atmosphere to begin with, the Peppermill might still be what you need, in offering a luxurious room at a great price. I would check out the Sienna first, though. You can read my review on that hotel's page.
