I am a big history buff so Whiskey Pete's was a nice stop on the way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. It's just across the border into Nevada. I had to see the infamous bullet riddled Bonnie and Clyde death car. The duo was ambushed and died in a hail of bullets. Here is their death car encased in a large glass frame along with the shirt Clyde was wearing when killed. Pictures and a few artifacts complete the collection. A fascinating video on Bonnie and Clyde runs continuously and includes Clyde's sister Marie. There is another car on display and I didn't pay much attention to it since the owner wasn't shot in the car.
What else makes Whiskey Pete's a fun stop is that across the freeway are Buffalo Bill's hotel and casino complete with a huge outdoor roller coaster and an outlet mall and a few restaurants. Drive under the freeway bridge or take the shuttle bus. On weekends there is a free monorail service.
I didn't stay at the hotel but did stop and visited the sights. It's a fun stop before the last 40 or so miles to Las Vegas.More
